When I worked in the I.T. Dept of our Local Authority, we had a rolling program to replace PC’s every 3 years. e

If it is anything like the uni I used to teach at they paid a private company to dispose of the hardware as well! Staff and students weren’t allowed to get any of the disposed computers as we were told that someone could injure themselves and the university would be sued.

Even though in most cases old software was more than adequate for the level they worked at the faculty heads always insisted on the latest software even if 99% of the features were never used.

Still doing it as far as I’m aware but they did lay off a large number of staff in the last year to save money.

Day we went there was a bit of wind, I gather on a still day the display is even better. Great photos of a stunning aircraft.

It is a shame that even more people are losing their jobs at this very tough time but with HMV their logo shows a technology that has been out of date for decades.

Blockbuster, failed business model, should have gone digital and then streamlined and had generous game rental options for the console market.

Comet, can’t comment as I never had any dealing with them.

But I struggle to recall the last time I went in either of the other two shops.

Footage doesn’t look good and sure details will emerge but thoughts go out to anyone injured and families of those who will I fear have lost their lives.

Father’s name is blank on the birth certificate so we’ve always assumed we’d never find out, pm sent with details.

All we’ve got to go on is the name Morley (or variation of) somewhere in the Hull region and August 1942, not a lot to go on really and we may well be clutching at straws.

MPs should tie their wages in with the minimum wage in a similar way to companies such as John Lewis where the top can only earn x percent more than the lowest.

Or they should be made to survive on the same rate as those claiming benefits, it might put them back in touch with reality or force them out and then get in people who don’t do it for the money but because they actually care.

If anyone is entitled to a pay rise it is the front line emergency services.

Ebay is dangerous, go on to look at the spits and ended up with another Harrier. Did get 4 1/72 Mk1a for Christmas and luckily the new tooling to add to the stash. Just glad I’ve got two kids so plenty of ceiling space, just when they get to the teenage years and want all the models down which could be a problem.

If the US (and by the same logic) Japan were not involved in the war then Singapore would not have fallen we would not have had such a concern for resources being expended in Burma and the region. Drawing just on Commonwealth and Allied nation troops a second front could have still been opened, the war in Africa had been largely won and the Italian campaign could still feasibly have occurred.

However as has been said the war would have likely lasted longer but Russia would have been likely to have pushed right up to the French border, if not further and the geographical and political map could be very different today.

If Japan had still worked on their territorial gains to the West then who knows…
