Those MiGs and SUs were given F numbers between 112 and 116 for tracking within the USAF logistics system. Adding 117 to the list was an attempt to “hide in plain sight”.

That bit makes sense and I’ve already gone mad this morning trying to work out what the heck the side profile of a F16 looks like behind the pylons.

Think I’ll stick with the nice sensible British way of naming them first and then the designations, makes much more sense.:D

Wouldn’t get that sort of thing in rugby…the fans will always think the ref and the match officials are idiots, always have done and always will!:D

Nothing here in the replies that does anything but confirm my own thoughts, escorting fighters that deep in enemy territory would have far greater concern and higher priority objectives than strafing a built up area during or immediately after a bombing raid. Protecting the bombers then on the way home targets of opportunity that would (I’d have thought) be closer to home such as in France or the Low Lands and targets such as airfields, trains etc.

As for the viewing of history from the present, the treatment and reaction to the Harris statue from some quarters sadly says it all.

I like her just as she is, does there need to be change for the sake of change?

Last year my wife was returning from Norway and tried to get online to book in and print out her pass, due to ‘technical issues’ with the site she couldn’t.

She was told at check in by the nice lady (not Ryan Air staff) that this isn’t uncommon practice by Ryan Air in order to raise more revenue, they also waived the fees.

As I like the lines on the old FRS1 but would otherwise give 800 NAS their toys back and something to put them on.

Is the plan to have everything on the field running then? 😀

    Even the Guppy?

Glad she’s being restored, the D.16 looks awful in my opinion and the colour choice was an eyesore.

Sadly only got a couple of days to get the info and the artwork finished off!
