I would love to see them fly just one more time, don’t think it’s going to happen sadly though
I’m hoping this will be the definitave tome on the subject.
Unless the government have a change of heart (assuming they have a heart) then sadly the UK chapter of the Harrier is closing, still some life in the foreign operators and who knows what the future might hold, the Indians might upgrade their FRS1 fleet to some second hand GR9s so we might have to push Chox for a second volume!
Tim,
Will the book have a chapter similiar to this forums ‘Harriers in museums’ thread, on preserved examples of the type ?
.
What’s the point there is going to be a flood of airframes in the new year 😀
oops, clicked the wrong button in my haste.
I find that having family work there and who live a few miles up the road is very very handy for transport and accommodation 😀
Thanks, I had my suspicions and don’t actually remember the other thread, plus searching isn’t easy.
Is there a good book anywhere that details RAF markings, sizes, colours, positions etc over the years and the changes?
I’m sure Ken stepped up from deputy at some point in the past, no doubt it will carry on in safe hands, be interesting to see what happens to Aeroplane, they have both changed in the 20 odd years since I first read them and maybe this will be a good reason for another overhaul.
but I think using the spectre of a Falklands II is a red herring.
What about other potential situations regarding territories that fall under British protection that may for what ever reason require fast jet support in a part of the world that the RAF cannot reach, Belize springs to mind as an example in the past
Do they call him Tony two Jags? I notice the second cockpit in the background.
all change but thanks to both for their hard work over the years.
A truly formidable career and sorry to hear of his passing.
In a slight deviation from the initial question who is the oldest pilot still flying?
Its impossible for a simple modeller to get all the data, info or even Knowledge like many of you have already. I’m a Mechanical Engineer.
:eek:Simple? If that is what you consider yourself, what does that make the rest of us, it is a stunning bit of work and I wouldn’t even dream of starting or having the patience to see it through.
Look forward to the next project as well.
seen the vulc before but not the others, and those seat covers in the Comet, any idea where I can get some?
