Up there with this screenshot from the mail site when they were having a pop at the beeb for being inaccurate

Would the Harriers have been able to stop them?
The Harrier is down as having a service ceiling of 51,000 ft and the Vulcan a ceiling of 55,000 so would that 4,000 ft make a difference?
There is certainly photographic evidence of one in RNZAF roundels !
You mean this zapped Vulcan and I wasn’t aware of the Argie interest, now a SHar going up against a Vulcan would have been a very interesting scenario
Caught the second half as I forgot it was on but looked interesting from what I saw of it, be nice to see the whole thing without interruptions next time
I think that the faces of May and that midget say far more than the verbal diarrhoea of Clarkson, sometimes less is more
Frederick Taylor’s book on the Dresden bombing is probably the best work, I understand, on the matter.

Should be essential reading for anyone who wishes to express an opinion on Dresden.
Been a while since I read it but a combination of factors such as weather, three trips in nights and one day and the PR of first Germany and then Russia have all combined to make Dresden stick out more than any of the other raids during the war
I don’t have the break down for each day but a total of 44,000 for the weekend which is the largest attendance ever for an airshow at Duxford, must have mostly been the Saturday as the Sunday wasn’t too bad.
Sorry forgot the smiley and here was me assuming that it was some new arty type livery for luvvies, maybe a nice lilac colour luvery 😀
Do they construct the glider around the pilot, doesn’t look big enough otherwise!
It’s only on Google classic and not on iGoogle.
Not finding it on any google, I want to have some fun.
He also thinks
Another 2nd World War aircraft the Consolidated PBY5 Catalina seen here in U.S. luvery
Any idea what ‘luvery’ is?
Be nice if the SHars are still there, might have to pop down.
I’ve not read in detail the other posts but Dresden was bombed over successive days and wasn’t the US supposed to provide the first wave but due to the weather the RAF went in first, they followed up and then we went in again?
Also as has been stated it is not a memorial for the crews that went just to Dresden but every flight by Bomber Command from 1939 right through to 1945.
Interestingly the article doesn’t actually state the views of the Mayor on the matter.
As an aside are there any memorials dedicated to the USAF bomber crews either in the states or over here? The only one I’m really aware of is the cemetery at Maddingly
Youtube footage of the incident
Amazing set of photos, to echo wyvern glad the pilot is intact
So Harper Collins next book will be Santa doesn’t exist and other ways of shattering your dreams
