They’d also have to change all the codes on every other shot as well, but would have been nice to get that right, don’t think the lost in bad weather scene is quite as powerful as the passage in the book which really does impress the loneliness of the sortie but trying to compress a very well written book into 80 minutes can’t be easy.
So when is it on
Stringfellow proved that steam and flight don’t really go together, hours stood in cold wet fields in January waiting for some lump of metal to go past when I’d rather be anywhere else put me off for life, at least at airshows you get to see plenty of aircraft at any one time and the weather in generally tolerable.:dev2:
For those of us who missed it I’m enjoying it right now David Jason – Battle of Britain ๐
And under the current government those responsible for such wanton destruction and vandalism won’t even get an ASBO.
Remember that old Alliance & Leicester advert on TV with the trainspotters?
I’d rather not.
Could it be that he is going to have one of those mortgage railways that kids ride on running round his garden with some little resin houses and stuff and a couple of steam engines that go chug and occasionally for variety a little ‘putt’ noise.
I suppose in these dire times a man has to do what a man has to do.
How about if we just use the term โSpitfireโ to refer to any Second World War aircraft
But remember if it is multi-engined it has to be a Lanc and if it is a jet then the Red Arrows normally does, don’t know about choppers though, that is just too confusing but there aren’t too many of those so don’t need to worry about it!
he has joined the dark side, railways….. I ask you…….:(
Dirty smoky filthy things that can’t even get off the ground and very restricted in terms of where you can go with them.
Such a shame as I thought Baz was a nice bloke ๐
This would have been while in Spencer Flack’s ownership, flying from Elstree.
I’d be surprised if it was flying from Elstree down to Somerset on a regular basis, definitely based at Yeovilton, the pilot at the time would have lived just outside Ilminster which is near Merryfield
Wouldn’t it just be a good idea to have a single sticky thread that just lists all the historical aviation related stuff that is due on any tv or radio channel but just limit it to posting up program details and times/dates without the chatter?
I saw two and must confess I completely forgot about the old thread JDK, sorry
I’m a bit young to really remember anything clearly from the 70s’ (showing my youth now) and remember that the pilot lived just outside my home town so would regularly practice aerobatics. I wish I could accurately date it but can’t.
Think there is an entire hour of it tomorrow night on BBC4 before First Light starting at 8.
Is this the Fury that used to fly from Yeovilton with ‘D Day’ style stripes on the wings that I remember watching on many a school day when I should have been fielding in the 80s or I remember somewhere hearing it had been written off, sorry for the slight thread drift?
:diablo:Its Spitfireman he’s on here all the time. This is his favorite replica EN398.
Sadly the sarcasm tags weren’t working, still I’m amazed he hasn’t popped on here yet to comment, most unusual unless he’s out again with one of them.
wow who is this guy, be nice if he popped by here once in a while and kept us informed of what he’s up to next.
