Ah the difference between North & South again. Up North you might get relieved of your car illegally. Down South somebody just clamps and tows away your car and relieves you of a large amount of cash legally. Both as bad as each other really.
Sounds ideal for the ATR’s to me but then I am biased:)
Another ATR at last! Welcome.
I remember listening on an airband radio many years ago when the Gatwick ILS was being checked one night. They did quite a few approaches. No idea on the regs for this I’m afraid.

As it goes 27Vet those pictures aren’t far wide of the mark. All I can say is I thought they were a few miles away and were therefore quite large.

Ryanair aren’t the only ones. I went on Flybe’s website today and got quotes for flights to Jersey. They seemed reasonable so after finding and booking hotels I went back to book the seats.
Then I found that they still list prices the old way and don’t include taxes, charges for card payments etc in addition to the expected baggage charges.
The bit that really got me though was an extra charge for a seat on top of the quoted fare! How can you quote a fare that doesn’t include a non optional seat? You pay a minimum £6 per person per flight extra for a standard seat. In my days as cabin crew you had to make sure everyone was seated etc etc. Have I missed something and you can now stand on short flights!?:(
PS My wife has just come up with a good question. Have we paid for the pilots or do they pass a hat round for them after landing that we are required to contribute to?
Ah Boris Island rears its head again. No chance my friends.
1. As you’ve said high speed train links will free up slots. This is flavour of the month with the current gov.
2. No transport links out that far. Stanstead being turned into Heathrow 2.0 makes far more sense hence BAA wanting to keep it.
3. If you wanted an airport out that far why not develop Manston.
4. Global warming. How do you stop a new island sinking and being flooded as is threatening with another well known example.
IMHO More chance of developing Tracey Island than Boris Island.
It is sad when you’ve worked on them. They become personal. I remember working on a couple of her sister aircraft at Sabre Airways back in the mid 90’s.
Still miss the old ATR’s I worked on later. Shame the missus won’t let me have one as a shed. 🙁
Hmm, Doubt dragging an aircraft out of the mud is included in the handling price. Must be an extra to be paid for. Going to get a taste of their own medicine. Wonder how much they are going to get charged for that!!:diablo:
Happy Christmas Everyone
Look forward to all your posts next year and hopefully welcome back some old friends who aren’t with us at the moment.
Can only wonder whether he was routing to the west of LGW for a Midhurst/Mayfield approach for 26L
In that case Southampton may have been the best option if the decision was made in that area
Where does the report come from?
I personally heard something similar many years ago. Any enquires were met with the standard answer that it was just a routine precaution!
Great race. True champions drive the way he took the bull by the horns and went for it.
Must just mention Lewis as well, what was it? Something like 17th to 3rd.
🙂
