Nice one Josh. I was hoping someone got the evidence. Unless anyone else knows otherwise I think you get the honour of the first A380 pic at LGW.
I have some shots somewhere of the Boeing 777 demonstrator on its first landing at LGW somewhere.
Again they are a long way from what I would like but atleast I have the evidence:)

    A380 into LGW?

Just had a text to say the A380 has gone into LGW in the last few minutes.
Anyone able to confirm this and why LGW not LHR?

astonished to find that the seats in front faced me !So you could hold a conversation with the people in front

You’ll find a few 50 seat ATR42’s around where that is also the case with the front row.

I shall pass that on t’missus and keep thy head down. Or something like that.
As I’ve literally just returned from taking her back up North to the N York moors and ‘ome’ I think I’m entitled to that one:)

She was obviously inebriated before she boarded the flight..so the question is how did get aboard in that state

Sadly, they are on occasions, briefed by the ground staff on how to behave at first so that the cabin crew don’t refuse them. Believe me I’ve been on the receiving end. I also once had a group board after I’d told the dispatcher I wasn’t prepared to take them (after talking to the Capt first) as I’d got wind of their antics on the ground.
On the subject of opening doors. Believe it or not, when I worked on the 747 for a foreign carrier I was taught a way of cracking open the door and holding it there with seat belt extension straps. You’d do two doors, one at each end. This was a procedure for use at FL100 to vent smoke out of the cabin if we had a problem. We were told that even depressurised at this level the door wouldn’t open much due to the aircraft speed. Whether the extra oxygen coming in would have made a fire worse and done for us that way I don’t know. I suppose if you’re struggling for air anything is worth a try.
Now I just dodge trucks trying to run me over on the M25! Guess I’d better check the insurance policy:)

    Will she land at Dunsfold?

Bought my ticket Friday evening! Already one of my favourite airshows.
Anyone know if 558 will be just arriving overhead and displaying before departing or is she landing?
The Reds normally land and socialise. Would be nice to see 558 and the Reds together. Now if they could also do it in the air that would be very nice!!:)

Please also remember, from the Cats Protection website:-
“Cats are recognised by law as free roaming animals and therefore their owners cannot be held guilty of trespass under civil law. Under the Protection of Animals Act 1911 and the Criminal Damage Act 1971, a person commits an offence if they treat a cat cruelly and can be liable to a fine and/or imprisonment.”
I don’t like foxes as they attack my chickens. However I don’t shoot them, I increase my chickens protection. We don’t like our cats killing birds. So we put up more bird feeders and in higher places and so keep more alive than they kill.
I’ll be careful here as I have recently unintentionally come unstuck with a moderator.
My recent experience has been that someone who was a townie until he got a few quid, a farm and a shotgun caused more problems than he solved. This was simply because he didn’t know how the ecological balance worked.
Seems to me that the same happens on occasions with those who don’t understand cats.

You’d better be careful. They are known for their patience. With thanks to DazDaMan for originally posting this pic elsewhere. I hope you don’t mind me reproducing it here

Yep it is now official! This on the front page of the TVOC website says

“I am absolutely delighted to announce that Avro Vulcan B.Mk2 XH558 has today been granted her Permit to Fly on the UK Civil Register by the Civil Aviation Authority, and has subsequently landed safely at RAF Waddington to be present for this weekend’s airshow.”

The title above the announcement says
“DISPLAY AUTHORITY GRANTED TO XH558 CREW

XH558 To Carry Out First Public Display At RAF Waddington International Airshow 5th/6th July 2008″

Personally I can’t understand where anyone could have been confused.
Yes TVOC have always tried to be upbeat but they’ve never lied or misled anyone. They’ve never promised to reveal a hidden sponsor at any point.
It’s always been clear to me that, at different times, they thought a sponsor might be found.
As has been said before, finding a sponsor for such an item in the current financial climate is not going to be easy to say the least.
In the mean time I’m happy to keep on paying out. I’d rather do that than not have a flying Vulcan. Some things in life cost.
Your choice what you spend your money on. Please don’t critizise the rest of us for where we choose to spend ours.
