Aircraft brought to a halt parallel with the fire station. Good thinking there by the crew.

Virgin Emergency Landing @ LGW

Just seen on my local news that LGW is currently closed due to a VS Airbus on the runway following an emergency landing.
Pictures appear to indicate a landing on 08R with a full stop before the VCR followed by a full evac. No reports of any injuries.
Would appear at first glance to be a well done stop and evac by the crew.
Speculation is the emergency had something to do with smoke on board.

Being a regular user of them I’d also suggest a Travelodge. Worth contacting them to see if they will do a deal for payment upfront for several nights. If you don’t mind being on the edge of London and a short ride in to town they might agree to one of their £19 a night deals, particularly if you don’t want the room serviced every day.
