XV499 and XV586
Are yorkshire air museum still trying to get hold of XV499? and what happened with XV586 moving down to yeovilton i know she was still dismantled at leuchars in july but the trail seems to have gone cold?
thats fantastic that the army are making such an effort bringing her home it should be applauded in this day and age. will be following this one with interest
glad to see that she will be moving. I take it she will be going on the gate rather than the museum then?
XT914
ive no idea whether shes going to the museum or not. but i know theyve been looking to move the aircraft on as brampton is closing in the not to distant future. if this is true it would be fantastic news cant think of a more apt place for it to be than wattisham.:)
on the subject of phantoms have just read on another forum that xt914 is moving from raf brampton to wattisham this week.
Any more news on this? hope its not going the way of the gateguard…
Do the raf museum have one ear marked? im astounded they dont have one at hendon seeing as it was such a good servant and an important type. i know they have the ACT aircraft at cosford but its hardly representative of the type.
its due in at 11.30 at cosford.
slightly off topic but are YAM still trying to get hold off XV499 from RAF Leeming?
My apologies for jumping the gun, im glad its going somewhere it will be looked after. I presume it will be repainted in its original 892 nas markings?:D
I’m a happy man!!! I just hope the two remaining Phantoms (XT864 & XV582-Black Mike) don’t have a bleak future!
I believe 864 was recently repainted and as its the gate guard imagine its secure for the time being. Hopefully xv499 at leeming will be the next phantom to be saved.
I would have thought both the FG1 and FGR2 are MOD
That will be their fate sealed then 🙁
Are the two phantoms owned by the museum or Mod?
worrying indeed i fear for their collection especially the rasberry ripple phantom 🙁
