Well I don’t think that it was 100% planned. if it was why they cancelled the rest of its display. Either the pilot made a mistake or the engine had some problem. If it was really planned, I’m very very concern about the future of this pilot…

    Indeed close call.
    Hm, notice Typhoon`s smokey engines…

Yes I did, is it normal? I do not recall to have noticed it before! What was the formal explanation for the inident?

he he, it is a 2in1 thread! 🙂
the half of us argue about if it is possible or even meaningful a hypersonic stealth bomber and the other half the analogous about a Laser based air defence to face it!

Yes if you demand to have invariable stealth performance during all phases of an operation. But the stealth features are propably going to be optimized only for the inroad into enemy territory. In practice it can reach early enough to the region of interest with hypersonic speed, then slow down, and enter the dangerous hostile territory as a high (not hypersonic) speed Stealth bomber, deliver the payload end escape as quickly as possible. The hight speed is needed only for quick reaction around the globe not for tackle the hostile defence.

    Short answer? You can’t.

Don’t be so sure! Well if they could some decades ago to built aircrafts like XB-70 or SR-71 etc. imagine what they can built now! Noone says it’s going to be easy but it is a techologicaly feasible goal… the unmanned Boeing x-43, studies those exactly aerodynamic areas!
The only problem is how the hell is it possible to exist such an expensive and fancied project when 100% convertional and 0% risky projects are cut off.???

The development and poliferation of ground based laser defences will render such machines obselete before they are in service.

The questions is how easy will be, even for those hypothetical Laser air defences, to early detect and lock on an extremely Stealthy high speed bomber?

And further more how many can have such air defence in near or even more distant future except US or maybe Rusia?

If any of you “EXPERTS” had bothered to check the facts… 😡 😡
you would have found out the the ABL is NOT an air-to-surface weapon or and Anti-ICBM system.
It’s designed to destroy an IRBM in the boost phase…shortly after liftoff.
It stems from the 1991 Gulf War when Iraq was shooting “SCUDS” at Kuwait and Israel.
IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE ABM TREATY.

1st. Don’t shout, read better the posts and you ‘ll find out what we are talking about (NOT ABL!!!)…
2nd. The fact that it can destroy sub-strategic BMs does not mean that it has not anti ICBM capabilites, Of course it CAN intercept ICBMs!

And PETROS, where did you get the stupid idea it would be aimed at people?
This system has been covered extensivly for years in aviation and space journals…not to mention the USAF website.

I am not talking about the ******* ABL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DON CHAN, PETROS and DINGER, I’d hate to see the facts get in the way of anti-American propaganda… 😀
This is supposed to be a forum for enlightened debate.
If you don’t know what you are talking about concerning the military or aviation, go to some political forum and talk to other like minded people.

Maybe we got a little bit out of the technological point of view of the subject.
Please cut the b**** about anti-American propaganda! Every one has the right to express his opinion. There is no place for censorship in this foroum!

Don’t cry if your next “enemy” use biological – cemical or even nuclear weapons then…
