Is the tail up on bricks ?

Well spotted some a couple of hours welding required before its next outing, its a constant battle to keep it going. A starter motor also failed and had to be replaced on site, quite appropriate really working under a portable light in the dark in a wartime blast pen.

For the Whirlwind fans the organisers at the cafe have some pictures of that aircraft operating from Harrobeer.

I suppose they would if it was actually stolen, perhaps it was taken by aliens just as believable as the other stories I have heard. I dont know Ted personally but I know the person who went with him to collect the cockpit and heard first hand the explanation offered for its dissapearance. As you say some would have re acted differently!

I understand the owner Ted is very keen to trace the where abouts of His cockpit which was “lost” by the person it was last lent to. Aparrently when Ted went to collect it, he was told it was stolen and then lost there seems to be some confusion about its actual fate. If anyone knows it where abouts they should call Ted or the police or both, either would be good.

I hope its real I am protected on this purchase and can get my money back if its not original so any comments on its authenticity are wellcome. I would have thought if it were a fake some name or date would be addded to enhance it ?

I really dont know anything about hallmarks, I didnt realise they only list years, I was under the impresion they contained allot of hiden information about maker etc I am quite happy with it but it would have been nice to know who it was awarded to. Seems like thats an impossibility, its not an issue for me..

Will the hallmark give a clue to date? I wonder if they held these in stock or struck them as needed, if the hallmark gives a date it might be possible to close it down to a group of recipients.

This must have been a tricky dig. I visited the ste about ten years ago as i worked about1/2 a mile away. As I remember it it spanned several small enclosed gardens behind bungalows. I never pursued it as the house owner said they had only found a few small fragments, I certainly did not know it was a Stanford Tuck kill. Well done.
