But I think an important point still stands. You and Graham used the word assimilation whereas surely it is integration that is required. I know you will counter that argument by suggesting that any immigrant is welcome if they live within the law. Equally, many indigenous British citizens choose to live outside the law, as evidenced by overcrowded prisons.

Quite right, my incorrect use of terminology is probably caused by my obsession with the good aliens raised in the missing missile thread. 😀
I am quite sure the Borg would not consider assimilating the Poppy burners as they have to have some charactistics which would prove useful. From where I’m standing they don’t have any redeeming features.

This is of coarse true, invaders in the past have all eventually been assimilated into the general population. My point is that services are stretched, retirement age is going up because pensions cannot be paid and we can all see the thousands of new houses swallowing up green land.
Yet on the other hand there as little control on immigration, over crowding causes social un rest and reduces quality of life for everyone.
There has to be a sensible debate and balance, immigration should match people leaving the country a bit like a car park. When there’s no more room then red light comes on.
This is a tolerant Country, intolerance should be crushed by the law regardless of who gets offended.
