Im think build quality probably has more to do with it than the layout of the engine. I seem to remember a program showing a Rolls car engine with a 50p piece balanced up right on a running engine.
Thought Anson was 35? For your info Spitfire left and Hurricane right although early Spitfires had two fuel gauges.
Thanks PM sent.
I’d like to join in with a ghostly Spitfire as well, but I only have a ghastly one !
Im may have poor taste but I quite like it, better than the terrible pink some PRU Spits were painted in. 😎
Ummm I might be but Baz entered himself into the recent Horners auction as an ancient aviation collectable, I am afraid there were no bidders!:diablo:
Its a special effect madee by wobbling the camera :o:o:o

Yes it is, and the pictures are deceptive. Its been left out for months in the winds, rain and snow, most of the fabric is US.
Thankyou Baz, normally the Spitfire would be tucked up in the shed this time of year but we just had a group of Kids round from a local school. The stands are a precaution although it is possible to stand on the wing tips.
We are suffereing from a storage problem but the shed is being extended and soon both the Spit and Hurricane will be under cover.
We have a full program ahead of us this winter, the Spit will have a complete overhaul and a re paint and the Hurricane will have a cockpit fitted, new canvas and also new paint.
We will be visiting Baz in Cornwall to help him pack up His Spitfire, we will be joining the local Rugby team, Firemen and a pack of horses required to fold back the wings on the tupperware Spit.
Just to clarify I never wear a German uniform but I do fire 40mm cannon shells at anything that moves including the locals, no one has complained yet although there are several burnt out council vehicles litering the lane. We call it the Norton gap! 😀
How is the “other thing” progressing?
other thing?
I think we all noticed, its just that we are very very envious and do not wish you to annoy us with more photos! 🙂
You must have a very tolerant SWMBO or you have an ex SWMBO. When I retired I suggested that we move to a single story house as this would be easier to maintain in our old age. I was told that this was just a ruse to buy a small farm, house with lots of land and sheds to put aircraft in. What nonsense, why would I need farm sheds?
So the car sits outside and other things stay warm in the garage and sheds.
Mrs A’s a teacher and I have school Kids round for talks and engine runs, so she’s happy. Just for you Robert this is the last surviving Hurricane model made for the Battle of Britain film. Its constructed very close to the original. It has fibreglass cowlings and wings which will be replaced with alloy and fabric.

Heinz.
Our AA guns are still loaded 😎
No ones even noticed I now have two aircraft in my Garden 🙁 and no its not a photoshop trick!
It may be a risk if the film is made and then fails, if there is no attempt to make a film and the money people have bought shares with disappears along with the organiser, I would call it something else. To my certain knowledge there is also plenty of money owed which has nothing to do with the film !
