Try searching for Biggin Hill, there is some great film of very early Airfairs and the naming ceremony of the Canberra.
Spitfire mk9 (only joking).
great paint job, but would disagree with this setting the standard for restorations, as looking round it reveals a bare cockpit, incorrect cowling fasteners and some rippling under the wing looks good in the air though
Would have to agree with Spit21. SM845 is a stunning Spitfire, but if you want to see a ground up restoration with absolute attention to detail I can recommend a good look around Spitfire Mk9 TD314!.
Anyway, the more Spitfires the better!;)
Have a guess why it was there?
Engine trouble, Kenley?
I reckon this could be Biggin Hill. The farm in the background is still there with some of the original bulidings. Spent alot of time at Biggin and if you were to stand where the Spitfire is today you would have a great view of london and its tall landmarks.
Not sure about the poor Spitfire though, although the aerial mast is pointing forward and as already spotted it seems to have swung around the chocks.
🙂
Yet another Spitfire arrived today at the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar:
🙂
Isn’t MK912 based at Biggin Hill now?

LF363 came through Biggin on its way to and back from Kenley, great to see!:)

There seems to be a new hangar being built at Biggin, I wondered whether this could be the new museum? I read that Peter Monks TA 805 would be incorporated into the new museum in a viewing area. My question really is which hangars are currently housing these elusive Biggin Hill Spitfires as I’ve previously seen TA805 photographed in front of the Rizon hangar (nearest the main road). Can anyone shed any light?

Did this get solved? Hurricane 1 N2433 GZ-?
Weather permitting, though not looking at all good, one BBMF Spitfire should depart tomorrow, 19 April, ready to be overhead, Cassel, France, at some time around 11.30 French time – or 10.30 UK time. You can work out departure times back from there…!!
This for funeral salute for Sgt W J Smith RAAF.
Coningsby-Cassel-Coningsby in one go, that must be close on the fuel limit!
Hope the weather plays ball, fingers crossed!

TA805 has been based in several hangars at Biggin including Rizon Jet. She is now in another hangar with a few other Spits on the south side of the airfield.
