Local press (and TV) covering the story now : )
Where’s the Anson gone?
The Jet Age Museum has now signed its agreement to lease at Gloucestershire Airport. http://t.co/2pXR7ahb
New museum
2012 should herald the construction and opening of the UK’s newest aviation museum. The Jet Age Museum has planning permission, are on the verge of signing a ground lease and, most importantly, has £250k in the bank. If we dot the i’s and cross the t’s in the next few weeks, work should begin in the Spring. Around 20k more will be required to complete the project and we may well be calling on the services of builders, plumbers, electricians etc. who might have a few spare hours. It’s a very exciting time. For more details, visit jetagemuseum.org or follow Jet Age Museum on Facebook.
Devonair at Little Rissington is a veritable treasure trove of Dove and Heron bits…they might be able to help…
Aren’t the Typhoons moving north? Aberdeen may well be an alternate for the RAF with Lossie/Leuchars (can’t remember which) closing and they might be using the airframe to train for fighter-type rescue operations. It is quite difficult these days to burn stuff at airports and meet the environmental regulations.
A quick Google confirms you’re spot on! Less than a minute, many thanks!
If anyone has any unserviceable Anson props I’d be glad to hear from them.
Excellent weather, great turnout and very well supported…
Just stumbled across the Shorts Scion project on Ebay…
In preparation for next Saturday’s event, the Meteor F8 drop tanks were refitted today…

It’s the big one nearest to the A40. It was scheduled for demolition earlier this year but the deal fell through. The renovation retains the original sstructure. The original hangars on the north side by the caravan sales are long gone.

The earth banks are part of the building project. They’ll be moving quite soon. The Museum hopes to begin building their permanent home next year so, over the next few months, the aircraft should be visible again.
