Is there any truth in the STRONG RUMOUR that the P-40 be at legends in its ORIGINAL primer?……………….:D 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 :diablo:

They have done better than that – the TFC team have actually taken the conservation process so far back, that the metal components are now back to their base ore. A remarkable achievement 😀

I heard that the data plate has been attached to the relevant piece of bauxite 😉

I recall reading that Hiroshima was chosen because it was relatively unscathed from the firebombing that had decimated other cities e.g. Tokyo.

Just beat me to it 😉

Great news that another Halifax has been found, but even better that the remains of its long lost crew have been found as well, so that they can be laid to rest.

I’ve just finished watching the last episode of this – as somebody too young to watch the series when it first was transmitted, I thought it was superb.

I’ve also now twigged what Moggy C’s user name means 😀

The only jarring thing is that the Americans had PAINTED the motion with thick silver paint! Sacrilege, especially as you can see she is standing in a restaurant now and hardly likely to rust.

It was displayed at the entrance to an open ended shed for many years, so the paint is either to cover up the rust or was to prevent it rusting in the first place! Although I believe it was re-painted some time in the 1990’s.

My idea of a nice aircraft collection is the following:

    Texan T-6, for training purposes.
Hawker Hurricane, one of my favourite piston engine aircraft
Hawker Sea Fury T.20, for advanced training and impressing friends 😉
Fairey Firefly, purely because I miss seeing one in UK skies.
NA P51 Mustang, prefereably a twin-seater, but not fussed.
Messerschmitt Bf109G, again, purely because I miss seeing one in UK skies!
de Havilland Mosquito, lovely aircraft and again, much missed in UK skies.

Such a collection flying as the full 7 ship with a ‘V’ consisting of the Hurricane, Sea Fury, 109, P51 and Firefly, and the Mosquito and T-6 in line astern in the centre of the ‘V’.

Sorry, getting carried away again 😀

Toss up between the Hawker Hunter and the EE Lightning.

If pushed I would go for the Hunter, it looks sleeker 🙂
