When they removed the Castle and Deltic, they had to remove all the exhibits between them and the back entrance then roll them out on rails.

I assume that the aircraft must also have to be taken out through the back entrance.

I ran out of time to see the aviation section in 2002 when I went up there as part of my A-Level D&T studies. I saw the Apollo capsule though 🙂

We were treated to an excellent display from BM597 yesterday evening at Leeds Castle, the fireworks later on weren’t bad either 😀

It’s for a HAC event at Biggin.

    Could you elaborate please?

I know that a Spitfire is due to do a flypast at Leeds Castle this Saturday evening as part of the open air concert being held there, perhaps it will be this one?

Are there any plans to build covered accommodation for XM655 to keep it in good condition?

Not to mention the ‘Battle of Britain’ class steam engines that were built by the old Southern Railway 🙂

A few years back a pair of F16’s from either the Belgian or Netherlands air force missed Biggin Hill and were observed on the horizon heading for Kenley.

Five minutes later they did a slow flypast down Biggin Hill’s runway…

Considering the problems that they have had in getting insurance cover, I think re-painting the aircraft might be a bit low on the list of priorities 😉

Just thinking about this – these aircraft wrecks get recovered and then restored to flying condition, some of them cannot have the original engine fitted because it is beyond repair.

What is the world’s supply of Merlin engines like? I assume that there must be enough spare ones in existence to support those Spitfire’s, Mustang’s, Hurricane’s etc. that are airworthy.

    Sounds like fun!

Dread to think what the fuel bill for that lot will be though 😮

Bad luck Fluffy, hope it can be fixed for tomorrow.

Sally B has just arrived, heard it on the radio and just glimpsed it in the far distance.

Watched the Harrier, Fouga Magista, EH101 Merlin and Chinook perform practice displays this evening.

The Breitling Team, Hawk’s, Eurofighter’s and Harrier are all parked up on the apron by the main runway.

A couple of pictures from Dad are attached (sorry about the quality, the light was a bit strange and he’s getting used to his new camera and lense).

DC-6 passed over West Wickham at roughly 1335. We had a large bi-plane earlier on finals.
