they are superb…what kit are you using to get those?! Presumably your lense is superior to my poxy 75-300mm!
Thanks Lee, Mantog.
I use a Nikon 80-400mm with Vibration Reduction. The body is a Nikon D70.
Some more.

Check out the WSO after yet another flight abandoned due to going ‘tech’.

a merchant ships was also sunk.well a first time for the C-802 in a combat situation. 🙂
Raygun,
Those images are of C-701 not C-802. Check out the size of a C-802 in relation to the person in the images. The C-802 is much larger.

Hmm, very nice rear quarter photos of Typhoon at Waddington, but did anyone manage to take any with the aircraft flying towards?

Well stapp me sunshine. So, you survived the holiday with the penguins then. You still in?
Good to meet up with you again after all these years. I still glance through r.a.m. occasionally but it’s not the same these days, full of trolls and t***ers.
Good one of 134 TJ, thanks. If you do Waddo next year turn up at the Canberra Assoc enclosure and say Hi.
Oh yes . . . there’s a grouping of two<?> green painted nissen type huts with connecting brick accom section just outside 4 hangar at Wyton (they were still there a year or so back) We always understood these to be part of JARIC. Scenery models were built in there using PI intel from the factory the other side of the road from the main gate. Never really took much notice so, again, could be something completely different I guess.
.
Hi Les,
You are probably right about a JARIC enclave at Wyton. It makes perfect sense! My last tour of duty was JARIC but purely at the main building at Brampton. The new JARIC building at Wyton should be ready by 2010-2011 timeframe.
Nice to hear from you again after all these years. I’ll certainly pop my head in at the enclosure if I’m about next year at Waddo!
Cheers
TJ
Looks as if some of the shots of Waddington were taken from outside the base. Lots of great shots.
Just a thought, if you dont pay to go in there wont be an airshow in the future!!!!!!!!!
I know at least 3 people who go to Cosford each year and park up in a farmers field all day and dont see any thing wrong with it but as above if you dont pay to go in, in the future due to lack of cash, no airshow.
Discuss!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are making a huge assumption without knowing the specific circumstances behind those off-base images. Some of my photos were most certainly taken from outside, but that doesn’t mean that I am a ‘freeloader’. I attended both arrival days and paid to use the enclosure. The guys/girls manning the gate are sympathetic to those who nip in and out to the A15 in order to obtain different perspectives.
On the Saturday I attended the airshow and stayed on-base. I also attended on Sunday but nipped off base throughout the day to obtain better perspectives on some of the performers. It certainly helps if you know someone on the gate!

Some Tornado shots:

Thought JARIC were already there! Well, there was a section called that at Wyton when I was there. Trouble with acronyms, they can mean anything so I’m prob wrong.By the way, you wouldn’t be the same ‘TJ’ that I knew when we used to post on r.a.m a few years back would you?
.
Hi Les,
Yes I am ‘TJ’. JARIC has always been at Brampton since the 50s. If JARIC get a nice new building at Wyton then having the PR.9 as a unit guardian would be a nice touch.
Here is one I took of XH134 at Waddo.
Slightly off topic I guess, but then, maybe not . . .
See here.
Historic aircraft connection? Almost zero except . . . what will happen to PR.9 XH170 that’s Wyton’s Gate Guard?
.
Les,
JARIC is moving to Wyton in about 5 years time. I can see XH170 staying put.

Anyone ever figure out what that new WIG-type craft in China is?
That WIG has been there since about 1997.
Didn’t you just? I’m no great fan of modern parafin burners but that is absolutely stunning
Mike, SEMAE, Thanks for the comments. I’ve been after a shot like that for a while. Point, track and click away as it roars skywards! Some of the other shots of the Tonka as it climbed away.
Can you show me the photo and point to where it is? I have to admit that I haven’t bothered to look carefully at the photos.
I’m surprised that nobody has commented on it before? The remains of the beam can be seen in the attachment. The link was posted on this thread.
Since it happened in Anhui and most of the dead engineers are from lab 38, we know that it can’t be KJ-2000 related. The most wildly speculated answer seems to be KJ-200, but that’s not proven. It could be one of the Y-8 surveillence platforms that lab 38 developed electronics for or it could be just a simple Y-8 transport flying people home.
The remains of the beam from the Y-8 can be seen in the crash photo.
