But maybe the picture is true and the thing has been staged with an Egyptian plane being used instead :diablo:

In short order Dan introduced the Hawks from Yeovilton (were they the top secrect dual engined Hawks?)
Even if the Harrier/Sea Harrier had been available it was the Harriers poor glide capability at the selected flypast height that precluded it from taking part. The Hawk has a greater glide capability.
http://www.pprune.org/military-aircrew/373031-fly-navy-100-a-3.html
From the MOD. Issued at the time of the 2007 Falklands 25th flypast.
‘Harriers will not take part in the flypast over London because single engine aircraft without the capability to glide in the event of an engine failure are not permitted to fly low over central London. Were they to take part, they would have to fly too high to be part of the display.’

As long as I am going to see this kind of useless and silly load just to show big things under the wings
What part of clearance trials doesn’t compute with you? I don’t see why some people are getting so bent out of shape over 6 Paveways on a Typhoon? Regardless of a real-world operational fit it was part of the ongoing trials. Not really that hard to comprehend. 17 Squadron started the heavy load evaluations during 2007.
See image on following article link.
The UK Royal Air Force’s 17 Sqn Eurofighter Typhoon operational evaluation unit (OEU) has flown the first two of a planned three heavy weapons load trial sorties, as the aircraft moves towards receiving clearance to conduct air-to-ground strike missions from mid-2008.
Photographed exclusively by Aviacom’s Jamie Hunter, the Tranche 1, Block 5 Typhoon F2 is shown carrying six Raytheon Paveway II laser-guided bombs, plus four AIM-120 Amraam and two MBDA Asraam air-to-air missiles during its first trials flight from RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire on 24 September.
“A large focus of the OEU’s work at the moment is geared towards the multirole operational employment date,” says sortie pilot Sqn Ldr Graham Pemberton, referring to an RAF target of 1 July 2008. The current trials activity is using a selection of approximately 450kg (1,000lb) Paveway IIs, including two which have been instrumented as part of the UK Ministry of Defence’s weapons clearance process for the Typhoon.
The heavy weapons trial was obviously continued during that Green Flag in 2008. The aircraft coded DJ carrying the 6 Paveways was later filmed in the process of dropping them.
It will be serial ZZ330. Quite active in the UK while working up.
Quick question –
What are the pylon type rails on the wing, behind the middle bombs.
The front portion will be the flare dispenser. The rear portion will be the housing for flight control mechanism.

Apparently some Canadian aviation forum has tagged this P40 as the steed of a former RAF pilot now living in Canada.
I commented on a video of this P40 on Liveleak and was told so.
It comes from the following link. The webpage has been continually updated. Remember it is all speculation until the true identity of the aircraft is determined.
… If this is HS-B Serial Number ET574, then it seems possible that Stocky Edwards did fly it.
… Richard Allnutt and I have played with a couple of the photos to try to bring out the serial number on the back of the aircraft. On the right side, we were able to distinguish a letter “T”, a numeral “4” and part of the numeral “7”. On the left side, we can barely see the remains of a letter “E”. With these clues, we are quite certain that this will finally be identified as ET 574.

4 Armée de l’air Rafales arrived at RAF Coningsby today. Two single-seaters and two two-seaters.
Visitors for the 3 (F) Squadron 100th Anniversary Event. Typhoon is due to display and Tornado GR4 Role Demo.
Thanks for posting this, I had no idea this had taken place, very cool.
No problem. 🙂
only 1 F-117 was shot down, true, but another was damaged, a high loss ratio for the few that were deployed
…..
even F-16 was more survivable than F-117 😀
25 F-117s deployed and one combat loss. You do the math? The F-117 missions didn’t cease due to the loss or damage. Silly statement reference the F-16. The F-16s were not tasked to conduct missions covered by stealth assets. How many F-16s do you think would have been lost if they had been sent on missions allocated to stealth assets?

I retired from the RAF in 2007. My perspective is that yes I do believe that those tasked with such a tough decision will do so.

Someone commented that the 9/11 attackers somehow managed to select good weather for their murderous assault – and still the mighty US military could not effect an intercept with their F16s. And if they had, what then ? Does anyone really think that they would have pressed the button or pulled the trigger over one of the most densely populated urban areas on the planet?
Sorry chaps, I’m not at all convinced.
……..
During 9/11, according to a report, F16s were in the air during the attack. It is reported that they were given the wrong vectors.
Yes John. I do. The events of 9/11 happened very fast. Nobody was expecting an internal threat and events to unfold as they did on that day. The Quick Reaction Alert was still geared for an external military threat. See following for interviews from pilots involved. Major Penney and her wingman in essentially unarmed F-16s (100 training cannon rounds each) were prepared to ram any aircraft that did not comply with their instructions.
