On the Hawker Hunters subject, was the Rhodesian air force the only ones to arm their Hawker Hunters with antiaircraft missiles? Where can I get some good images, how were they mounted (as I would like to build a model with the missiles). Where they ever fired in anger?
Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.
Sweden and Singapore amongst others. See images at following.

Two less now, still on the plus side for the government is that it is less money to spend.
Any news on the crew from the first Tonka to go down?
Not necessarily two aircraft down. Aircraft in these circumstances have been repaired in the past.
Jaguar XX845 belly landed after ejection and was returned to service.

Eye4wings,
The Argentine carrier was sold to them by the Netherlands. It was scrapped over 10 years ago without replacement.

Hi TEEJ
Thanks for the very interesting links, it looks like an extremely interesting place for those lucky enough to visit.
I particularly liked the photo of the TS-8 Bies’s, that is one of my favourite aircraft, would love to get my hands on one.
Paul
No problem, Paul. I can’t see a TS-8? Are you mixing up the image of the two Nanchang PJ-6s?

If you do a search on You Tube there are also videos.
One interesting exhibit still on display in Albania is a USAF T-33 forced down in 1957.

As already pointed out by Fedaykin the missile numbers were disclosed some 13 years ago.
The UK has already disclosed the number of Trident D5s that it pools with the US as 58. All the US is doing is clarifying those missiles by serial. This will enable the Russians to check US Navy Tridents by disclosed serials and take into account the missiles assigned to the UK.

‘We have also concluded, in the light of improved strategic circumstances, that the 58 missile bodies we have already purchased are sufficient to maintain a credible deterrent.’
In regards to nuclear warheads the UK in 2010 unilaterally declared the stockpile held. The only nuclear weapons the UK has are fitted to the Trident missiles.
See video from 24:00 at following link

UK numbers are 160 nuclear warheads operational with a maximum not exceeding number of 225.
The UK also revealed in late 2010 further reduced numbers in the future and those deployed on the subs.

Britain is sad that they are betrayed by the American ๐
American only care about their interest. The disclosure will put UK at a big risk when facing Russia in a stand off.
There is no stand off. Think about it? All you are putting forward is a knee jerk reaction. When it gets to that level of confrontation then it is all over and it isn’t just going to be a UK/Russia stand off. The whole point of the treaty is complete transparency and as all ready stated there is now no window for the Russians to accuse the US of hiding Trident systems that call for verification under the strategic treaty.

WikiLeaks cables – US agrees to tell Russia Britain’s nuclear secrets
The US secretly agreed to give the Russians sensitive information on Britainโs nuclear deterrent to persuade them to sign a key treaty…the US agreed to hand over the serial numbers of Trident missiles it transfers to Britain.
Obama cannot be trusted with alliance secrets.
No other nations in the world has this system where strategic missiles are shared and pooled like this. It would be naive for the UK Government to think that the US would not count ALL the pooled Tridents under this new treaty. The whole treaty relies on transparency and verification therefore these essentially export Tridents should be counted.
It proves to the Russians that the US is serious and that no hidden cache of launch platforms are being stockpiled in the UK. The transparency backed up by the resumption of on-site inspections is the only way that the treaty will be kept alive and functioning. The alternative is that there is no treaty and each side spirals into an uncontrolled nuclear arms race.

Good find TEEJ! Finally, some type of evidence other than just reading information.
I sure do like the looks of the Hun…especially the F’s used by the Weasels & Mistys. Two-seats actually suits the F-100 in my opinion although I think the single-seaters look great as well.
No problem, PhantomII. ๐
Cheers

I know they used them somewhat, but finding a picture of an F-100 with a Shrike is close to impossible.
Some fleeting footage of an F-100 carrying a Shrike at 03:16.

Thanks for posting the info. Interesting to see that two of those Nimrods are still very much active. XV249 and XW664. XV249 is currently flying at the moment over the UK. XW664 is currently deployed for Afghan ops. Just under two months to go before they retire on 31 March.

please forgive me and indulge me but can you tell me where the “Dave” name came from for the F35?
i missed that part of the relevant “F35B is it on the way out or better than an F18 on a good day trumping a Typhoon debate?”…
It started on PPRuNe (Military Aircrew thread) during 2006. It was quickly picked up and used within the UK military.
http://www.pprune.org/military-aircrew/226765-name-jsf.html
Back then it was Dave B. Now it will be known as Dave C.
