and whilst in reality I just wouldn’t say “crap picture” I do think we should push the odd photograph towards a debate about how it could be improved even if that doesn’t take place in this specific forum.

    Andy

Fully agree with that, Andy, my point is exactly that, and i apologise if i took your earlier post out of context, it is my belief that pointless criticism (or slagging if you like) will only cause friction, i have seen 101 shots that could be described as “c**p”,but would never EVER say this to the photographer, If i was knowledgeable enough about photography (which i’m not) i would offer critique, but, as is often the case,i am not in a position to offer advice, so remain schtumm.
Sandy: where have i said freedom of speech should not be allowed?, as i said, pointless opinions, because that is what it is, an opinion, using remarks that are clearly intimidating even hurtful, should have no place here.(IMO) Would you reply to, for instance, someones trip report, saying it was boring or pointless?? i would hope not,and that same courtesy should apply to a “c**p” photo. advise, critique, sure, slag off someones work just for the sake of saying it, no. 🙂

I also think that honesty (“crap photo”) would be a good idea,
    Andy

Sorry but total utter nonsense, complete garbage, 😡 😡 by your thoughts if poster A posts a pic, poster B thinks its c**p,poster C thinks it’s cool, etc… then poster A and B get into a flame war, another scenario, whereby an excellent shot is posted, just for someone to call it c**p, for no reason, maybe a dislike of the poster… What has happened to common courtesy?? If you have nothing constructive to say then say nothing. Arrogance and downright rudeness is what WILL kill the forum, causing people to leave, who may have been excellent contributors, but, forced away by narrow minded arrogant individuals who are in most likely a minority.
Again, not trying to have a go, merely voicing my opinion, i am rude to no-one and do not enjoy/tolerate rudeness aimed at me, as i’m sure 100% of posters here are of the same.

Lets get rid of “cool pics” and replace it with decent comments or even
“C**P picture – (out of focus, under/over exposed, where’s the rest of the plane 😮 )”

    Just my thoughts

    Matt

Just like to make my own opinion on your comments, i agree with any constructive criticism(god knows i need it!!) but, totally disagree with ANY picture being labelled c**p or any other derogatory remark, there are some pics posted here, that, if we are honest, our first thoughts are “c**p” ,however, not everyone has the best equipment, pics even posted shot from mobile phones, not everyone is Lord Lichfield, with a lot of contributors still learning (myself included) but, contributors have gone to the bother of posting their pics for us to enjoy/critique, and to be told your shot(s) are c**p,with no constructive element to the comment has only 1 of 2 outcomes, the contributor either leaves/no longer posts, or takes offence and a flame war starts, and the forum gets renamed A-net2!! Lets be of no illusions here, guys. Airliners.net or jetphotos etc… this is not, and speaking personally i enjoy the thought of being able to show off my efforts (good or bad) to a wider audience on the net, without getting shots rejected for having too many blades of grass in view or some other pathetic lame excuse the “screeners” at A-net come up with, and even get a wee bit of appreciation/advice/critique.
Honestly not having a go, merely voicing my opinion.

Very good, but, they are a Loco, so you can expect it won’t be quite like Virgin first!!
They havent done long haul ops yet, this will be the first season, so, not able to comment on that, but, they are good at the short haul and i’d expect the same good service on long haul.

We all have a different idea of what the right thing is though ;).

Very true, however, we all are not moderators!! who HAVE to make the decisions that affect the forum as a whole.

I’m sure i read somewhere in that thread, one of the mods saying no point in a vote as the mods were deciding what was to be done.
IMO deleting the thread was the right thing, it started getting very very silly and not unlike A-nets chaos. i am a newbie here and have been impressed with the mature attitudes and generally pleasant atmosphere here, would be a real shame to see another decent forum descend into nonsense, so i applaud the mods for letting the thread go, until it became silly, and pulling it.
have patience guys, the mods clearly are on top of the situation, and WILL do the right thing.

Last set from down under, these were taken at small airfields i stumbled upon on my travels:
    PA28 at Copmanhurst,Impulse Jetstream 41 at Coff’s Harbour, Socata TB10 at Taree,Aero Commander 500 at Essendon, Cessna 152 at Palmerston.(thanks Cessna 172RG for correction)
Thanks for looking, and again sorry about the quality, they were shot on an ancient Praktica film camera, and my scanner not the best. but, thought some may like a wee bit of variety.

Isn’t it possible for them to find out who was sitting in the seat the note was found on?

In an ideal world, yes, but. the note could have been placed by a pax on the previous flight, or anyone could place a note anywhere as they are boarding/exiting. Unfortunately, this type of thing is the easiest possible way to disrupt a flight, can’t see paper and pen searches taking place at the boarding gate!
