Great news for NCL!! Emirates must be really doing good loads of new routes, our (Glasgow) service going double daily with a 777W and A340-300.
There is a grassy hill on the eastern side of the airport at Dyce…Basically you go along Wellheads drive (runs parallel with runway on eastern side…past the flying club, past the Bond hangar and past the GAT on to Fairburn terrace keeping the airside to your left then road curves into Cordyce view (couple of good B+B’s here overlooking the GAT and Bond)then right into Foinavon Close….you will see the BMI hangar on your right ahead and on your left is the hill… high enough to shoot over the fence.. good for any choppers coming in to land on the E-W runway..and the main runway is right in front of you with a good view of the terminal apron light only good in morning
Afternoon:
Best place (if you have a car) is north west of the airfield a lane with laybys that overlooks RW16 finals…it is off of Dyce Dr. just past where it meets Howe Moss Avenue….take the next left after Howe Moss.. then an immediate right… goes up a hill and you will be able to stop anywhere here and watch the action (only good for 16 arrivals) also along that side you could go along Forties Ave… which is where the Bristows and CHC all are..but expect to be moved
If on RW34… you can head to the runway end by going back along Wellheads Drive( from the mound)..road curves round to the right a little bit after the runway lights is Market St on your left and just past that on your right is the entrance to Dyce Cricket club…you can park on the dirt outside and you have great views of landers on 34….in the morning you can of course just wander back along Wellheads to eastern side of landing lights for finals shots.
This link is to a google map i have (hopefully) added the main spots to….http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=218230034413426527256.0004b87757d0b369f00d1&msa=0&ll=57.202538,-2.191955&spn=0.002877,0.006899
Hope that helps
And pack yer woolies!!!:D
From the article “Visitors may not fly kites, operate remote-controlled planes or engage in any activity that might compromise aviation safety.”
Awwwww :mad::mad::p
That’s great!!.. i was in Taipei for a few days a few years ago was all over the place looking for somewhere to shoot… it had NOTHING airside, landside or perimeter..very frustrating never even shot a single shot..so this will be great!
I guess it’s a bit like why Qantas main base is Sydney and not Canberra 😀
Edinburgh although the capital is not where the most of Scotland’s populous is centred.. Glasgow is Scotland’s biggest city and GLA Scotland’s long haul gateway, Edinburgh takes care of puddle jumper routes..Also as Symon says EDI not really capable of handling a 777-300, never mind the terminal not being able to handle the pax:confused:
Could be another Far East route in the pipeline too Hainan Airlines had a very productive visit to Glasgow recently to discuss a new route.
Just beat me to it… fantastic news..great for GLA to get some cheer… and an A340-300 to boot!”!!!..oh June 1 is when it starts.
Cheers!! you’re very welcome
That’s a real bummer about your situation!! hope you can manage a few visits this year and get nice weather too!
Cheers :):D
Excellent!Where was the runway end in this one?….A take-off shot?
Thanks 😀
yes it’s a take-off, I think this was probably about the mid point when it rotated….never took long at all.
:D:D:D You can’t have it!!!:)
Cheers for that!
Final lot of 2011……
Visited Frankfurt on a dull day Dec. 22nd… had a delivery to a power substation for the new runway… first couple of shots taken from the industrial estate beside the new runway…rest from the bridge: (Unusual sight seeing aircraft disappear BEHIND the FRA terminal now!!)

Just walking up to the bridge as the below landed!!!.. first B748 i’ve seen…

Finally for my last job of the year in Pratteln, a suburb of Basle i arrived at delivery point to find a Czech AF Mig 21 sitting in it’s car park!!! (sorry for the mil content..but it is owned by a commercial company???)

And that concludes 2011 for me… been a great year for travelling..hopefully 2012 even better!!
All the best for 2012 everyone!
Now Liege October 26th… first time here.. not too much happens but was lucky enough to catch a TNT lump go out (first time i’ve seen one too!!)

Next up a flying visit to Braunschweig on Nov.28th:

Following day i had a day near Dusseldorf so went hunting for spots around the perimeter:

Wee bit more to follow…..
Great set!!!
Been to CGK a few times… stayed in the hotel also… very worthwhile..
Cheers:)
Well i drove there… my job is driving a van around Europe. XFW is in a strange location… right in the heart of a busy district of Hamburg…. i did see plenty of public buses running along the road. The viewing platform is at the delivery centre… which is just about the furthest point of the plant… Meant to add, although you may not see too much action..there are always loads of frames about for the number cruncher…lots of nooks and crannies with airbus lying around in them….i’d say about 30 plus any time i’ve visited.
Fantastic thread Sebastian!!
And welcome to the forum!:D More please!
