O’Queery is a nugget about this…no doubt whatsoever, I hope he PERSONALLY is going to be at the airports to tell folk they are not flying and that he is breaking the contract he has with each paid customer…especially those in the UK from abroad who may not have any idea of this charge coming in to place while they are shopping at Harrods.
Get a grip O’Leary, bite the bullet as BA etc.. are doing and cover the cost.
At the end of the day HE charged his passengers X amount, the passenger paid X amount, it is a very simple contract, and all airlines forcing people to pay more will i’m sure be wide open to being sued. MOL and others should be going cap in hand to the government who have screwed up, not the innocent passenger!

To actually answer some of your questions,Shadow:
Very likely imo that SIA would use it on European routes, it has easily the range for SIN-LHR
Currently the SIN-CDG route is a once daily B777 arrives around 7am leaves around 12:30 the flight is 13 hours 35 mins (6667 miles)

As Paul said… Ciampino is the small airport nearest to the city, it is where you will find loads of biz and CL215’s, because it is mostly biz the security is VERY tight (the high flying Italians not too keen on people photographing their business!!) You can spot/shoot,but expect to be challenged by a gun weilding cop!!,Around the perimeter is very hard to actually find the fence!! the airport is surrounded by little tight suburbs hundreds of streets….i tried going down many,to find a big wall/dead end etc… at the far end of the field past cargo there is a crash gate offering decent views BUT has a very clear warning not to stop here!! Fiumicino is the main international airport….spotting is more relaxed here but, not so many places to do it…a car is needed to get to good spots…..if you wish drop me a pm and i can give directions.

Dan, ABZ is fairly easy to get around, there is an area near the terminal good for photography/spotting, you can also wander round the back of the hangars to see more choppers and shooting is best on the east side near the Bond hangar and GAT area. ABZ is not the busiest for fixed wing movements, but gets some great stuff like Wideroe D8-4’s Braathens,SAS, Flightline, Eastern, some interesting cargo stuff and of course tons of chopper movements. The following may be of help:

Not the greatest quality shot ever, but, it was the first time i had shot the airline and what a backdrop of the Alps, shot at Zurich 26th march.

Great stuff, guys…., Gary, i feel the “bigger photo sites” at the end of the day rely on one screeners opinion, and only an opinion, not really representative of thousands of other peoples opinion, i’ve seen some shots on My Aviation that are quite poor in technical terms, would NEVER get anywhere near accepted on AL/JP etc.. but have something very special about them. So maybe not “good enough” for the snobs, but, more than welcome in a friendly forum like ours…keep ’em coming, folks 😀

I posted the news about that a wee while ago:
    http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=65150
It was originally planned to start on 1 Sept 2007, given that EK scheds only run to March, perhaps it will start far sooner??
Really good for North East England and South East Scotland then.
