To further compound the problem, the Egyptians would then have the perception that peaceful protest gained them nothing.

This could only be of benefit to the extremists, who propose a considerably more violent “solution”.

But it’s a Boeing, so it’s beautiful and it will work.

I can’t recall anyone ever accusing the B-52 of being beautiful, but each to their own. :p

The B747 is a classic design in all of it’s variants, of which the ‘800 is just the latest.

I can’t understand how anyone can be ‘pro’ or ‘anti’ either Boeing or Airbus.

They’re just companies that make airliners.

    It’s only a B747, when all’s said and done.

First flight of the type was in February 1969 not February 2011, whatever the marketing men would have you believe.

The ‘800 is an evolution, not a revolution. 😎

The military have been the power behind the throne in Egypt since the assassination of Anwar Sadat and there’s a fair chance that what the Generals desire above all else is stability.

Hopefully, the military will now supervise an interim government until a free and fair election leads to a democratic government at which point the military will hand over power.

But what will happen if the outcome of any election is not to the taste of the military – or whether the Egyptian military even speaks with one voice – are, however, different questions altogether.

He is not a spotter, no radio, no notebook, no binocs, no telescope, no ladders, no badges.

Well I’ve been one (a spotter!) for over 40 years, and I’ve never felt the need for ladders or badges.

Thanks for showing me where I’ve been going wrong. :p

Assuming that the new livery is rendered in the same way as on the B747, the “white” isn’t actually white.

It’s a slightly metallic pearl grey finish, which looks very nice indeed when the sunlight catches it,

Fly Girl….who is the Actress in your Avatar thingy? Sure I’ve seen her on TV.

I think that’s Fly Girl herself, actually.

Apart from the uniform, what does this have to do with commercial aviation?

…Trident Man. I “Must” know you from Ringway. I used to knock about with Phil Lines……

I was talking to Phil just a couple of weeks ago, as it happens. As cheerful as ever. 🙂

Oh, and some Deaf lads from Huddersfield…..they came over on Saturdays on the Express Bus, sometimes kipping in the departure lounge and going home Sunday.

They still turn up at the Viewing Park from time to time, although I do tend to bump into them more often at Heathrow for some reason.

Those Starliner trips were something else

Oh they were “different”, all right!
