Ah… LN-RRA.
I remember the first time it visited MAN – the first SAS B737 with winglets to do so.
It landed, rolled off the runway and then posed helpfully in front of the raised platform in the Viewing Park.
I raised my Canon 30D, composed the shot, half-pressed the shutter button, at which point there was a beep, and a “Memory Card Error” message appeared on the main display.
I frantically fumbled for a spare memory card, powered the camera down and replaced the dodgy card.
The aircraft hadn’t moved. Excellent.
Re-powered the camera. Flat battery.
Swore. Searched in bag for spare. No spare.
Swore again. Louder.
The aircraft still hadn’t moved. Phew!
On the basis that any picture is better than no picture I pulled out my mobile phone with its built-in 5MP camera and prepared to capture the shot.
The phone rang and, because I had “any key answer” activated, pressing the ‘shutter’ button on my phone answered the call (and over-rode the camera function) instead.
The aircraft moved away.
The call was from my wife, who wanted to know whether she should take my spare 30D battery out of the charger now and couldn’t understand why I was so upset.
Technology, eh? :rolleyes:
