    That’s the very place, Steve.

It was known as East Midlands or Castle Donington in those days – before the management consultants got hold of it and changed the name.

    And the view from Boeing…..

Boeing Statement on Air Canada Order Cancellation

“SEATTLE, June 18, 2005 — We share Air Canada ‘s disappointment at today’s developments because we are looking forward to being a part of Air Canada ‘s vision for leadership. We are seeing very strong demand for the 777 and the 787, and we believe we will have many opportunities to place these aircraft elsewhere.”

“..Air Canada’s vision for leadership…..” Don’t you just love Managementspeak?

But Minidoh, unless other countries also get a similar rebate on their contributions – and I have to admit I don’t know whether they do or not – how can it be anything other than a perk?

I regard the CAP in its present form as 100% indefensible, and I quite agree that it represents a massive perk for the French.

So why can’t the EU get rid of all such perks and have a level playing field for all members?

Do remember, though, that the UK (and the regions in particular) have been on the receiving end of fairly substantial EU development grants over the years so financially-speaking it’s quite a long way from being the one-way street that is so commonly portrayed.

    Quite, Sauron.

Let’s not forget – as many on the anti-EU bandwagon in the UK do – that the UK’s rebate is itself a perk.

Nice to see the whole country getting nice weather including Manchester…lol.

Not this morning, it wasn’t. 🙁

Matt….. assuming you were the lad with the blue t-shirt, dark shorts and camera bag, I was the fat bloke with the hat and the black t-shirt and black bag. I must have been stood about 10 feet away from you – but I only twigged who you were after you’d gone.

I’ll say hello next time, I promise. 🙂

Why do you keep saying this, Crazymainer?

What is your big issue with the EU, anyway?

    I’m genuinely intrigued.
