Good riddance to one piece of gutter press that we can do without!

I suppose the great unwashed will almost certainly switch to the Sunday Mirror!

    No need.

The Sun will print a Sunday edition instead.

Closing the NoTW is an empty gesture that will change nothing, and is intended to deflect attention from those responsible for the shameful outrages that we have learned about over the past few days.

This gesture will be spun as some great victory for decency and the common man, too.

    Edited: CoC Rule 15

    Quite so.

The long-haul business – including the cargo sector, let us not forget – has evolved considerably over the few decades.

Where they would once have been the norm, the 4-engined heavies are increasingly aiming at a niche market so far as intercontinental long haul is concerned.

    Ha! HaHa! Socialism….ain’t it great?

If you honestly think that Germany is a socialist country, then it’s going to be really hard to take anything else you say seriously. 🙂

Flag-waving, chest-beating and other utter irrelevancies aside; what these assorted numbers and statistics (97.4% of all statistics being made up on the spot, of course) tell us is that the market for large 4-engined airlines is nowhere near as large in the first quarter of this century as it was in the final quarter of the previous century.

All else is just posturing and wishful thinking.

You can kipple as ruddy ‘ard as you see fit, Kev.

They can’t touch you for it.

Words fail me……I find it impossible to believe what we are hearing.

I wish I could find it impossible to believe. 😡

As Stanley Baldwin said (quoting his famous cousin): “What the proprietorship of these papers is aiming at is power, and power without responsibility – the prerogative of the harlot through the ages.

Has it ever seemed more true?

You don’t have to apologise to me, I’m just a humble punter these days.

You’re perfectly entitled to your opinions, however reprehensible others may find them, but this isn’t the appropriate place to express those particular opinions seeing as it’s a Commercial Aviation forum.

…..When I see the country the head of state represents, tidy up its domestic act and develop its own society and infrastructure before taking over international businesses (UK included) and preaching to the world about business techniques then a red carpet can be provided……

Oh yes, that little rant was totally relevant to the subject of Commercial Aviation…… not.

‘Security theatre’, ie, the importance to the authorities of being seen to be doing something, seems to have a higher priority than common sense these days and spotters are increasingly becoming seen by security managers as a soft target for a ‘quick win’ – even at previously spotter-friendly airports like Manchester – rather than as extra pairs of ears and eyes (equipped with mobile phones) dotted around the airport perimeter.
