What’s the point of women being able to vote if they could only vote for the Ba’ath Party candidate of their choice?

Let’s see what happens if – as may well be the case – the Shi’ite majority vote brings in a substantial number of Shi’ite religious candidates, thereby increasing Iran’s influence in Iraq.

    What price democracy then?

What possible harm could the fan have done, Sauron?

The UK is part of the EU, Sauron.

    It’s made up of sov-er-eign na-tions.

Some of the goverments of these sov-er-eign na-tions do what their own people want, rather than what the head of state of a foreign country far away wants.

Try and get your head around that concept. I know it’s difficult for you, but try anyway.

Strange to relate, this is known as dem-o-crac-y.

Hmmmm… and for how long was the Coelacanth deemed to be extinct? 😎

They should have made “Defender” rather than “Enterprise” – apparently it was intended to be about the exploits of the Defiant‘s sister-ship in the war again the Dominion and would have paralleled the DS9 storyline.

    A wasted opportunity, IMHO.

Damien B is broadly right about Babylon 5, but it’s worth remembering that the “dodgy” CGFX in the first couple of series were revolutionary for their day and won a whole raft of industry awards.

All done on what amounted to a couple of upgraded Amigas, too! 😮

    See for yourself.

It’s quite funny, especially the bit about lackeys of imperialist capitalism.

I heartily recommend it to our US members…… :diablo:

No – “mistaken” will do quite admirably, J Boyle. 🙂

If the D-Day landings were reported by today’s media hardly anyone would know because there was no TV or Internet in Europe in 1944.

    Just a thought…….

Why not watch it with the bereaved Columbine families, so that they can share in your glee?

Are you really blaming Clinton for the attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon? I hear the distinct sound of barrels being scraped…….

Remind me, Pluto. Where and when did the USA fight back against those responsible for the terrible events of September 11th, 2001?

Not in Afghanistan – those responsible for the planning, funding and implementation of the murderous and cowardly attack on US airliners were almost all Saudis. Not Afghans.

The Taliban were an odious and despicable bunch by anyone’s standards, and I cannot think that any reasonable person shed a tear to see them brought down. However, since their fall, heroin production in, and heroin exports from, Afghanistan have returned to it’s pre-Taliban level so maybe it’s not quite as black and white as it first appeared?

Not in Iraq – the US Government itself has long since admitted that no links existed between the secular (albeit gruesome) Ba’athist regime of Saddam and Al’Qaeda. Retaliation for 11th September was never given as the reason for invading Iraq.

    So, please enlighten me.

Some of you seem to think that this is a fit subject to use for petty left v right/US vs Euro willy-waving and point scoring.

    I disagree, that’s all.

Oh, and irony means “like iron”, doesn’t it?

If theyd have reported D-Day the way they do today we’d have lost!!!

You are mistaken – soldiers, sailors airmen and airwomen fight wars, not journalists.

No matter how much they’d have you think otherwise.
