If the aircraft was high-winged, a 3rd set of doors around half way might be an improvement for that. But, a low winged aircraft is kinda restrained in that regard by the presence of the wing itself.
Like the idea of a high-winged aircraft, but wouldn’t that rack up the cost? I don’t think Ryanair would go for it. This is the company who proposed removing toilets to make room for seats
Yeah, it’s probably a cost thing… Oh well, if you are looking for a great view then you shouldn’t have too wait long. I recently read about an aircraft in development that will have a glass roof and “viewing walls”. Sounds cool, maybe in the next 10 years?
Never great when your plane “falls” on the runway. One always hope that it glides down gently 🙂
~Alan~ Good point about charts 😀 but I’m guessing you need more than a compass to land a plane these days… But perhaps not!
Get rid of hand luggage, it will speed everything up!
Couldn’t agree more! The future of air travel will be passengers taking their own baggage to the plane 🙂
As we know, airlines strive for on-time performance and yet each individual airline has their own unique way/process of boarding their aircraft […] I would like to know whether or not there is any such thing as a “best” or most recommended way for boarding an aircraft.
Indeed, there must be a better way! There was a study done fairly recently into just that. The alternative you are looking for might be “Steffen” method. Check it out here: http://www.airport-int.com/news/tests-reveal-most-efficient-boarding-method.html
Personally, I just take the first seat available 🙂 but that’s easy for me to say as a young guy who usually travels alone
The infamous accident in which a plane was destroyed and everyone killed when a crocodile escaped from a carry on bag was caused by just that.
Did I read this correctly? A crocodile!? When/ where did this happen and HOW did it get on board? Wouldn’t security notice your carry on luggage moving a bit erratically? Lots of questions 🙂
When I heard this break yesterday I got a horrible sinking feeling. Tragic.
In retrospect, not only should the Obama administration terminated F-22 production, all existing F-22 jets should have been scrapped and refunded by LM
This is turning into quite a saga. I’ve never known pilots refusing to fly a modern fighter due to safety issues. That said, does anyone know of a case where LM refunded the US Government?
I never realised… Sad to see an airline go and I really hope that alternative positions will be available at BMI. BMI Baby features big at East Midlands Airport, so I’ll be interested to see how they fill the gap.
Amazing 🙂 the second image (IMG_0489) really gives you a sense of scale! Beautiful combination the Shuttle and SCA – utterly unique!
Frankly, it looks amateur!
Don’t get me wrong, I like the nose and the smiley face, bit of a departure from the “oh so serious” liveries a lot of airlines carry. But Comic Sans? :(
I agree. I like the smiley face 🙂 It’s a bit cheap, but it is a budget airline after all!
Comic Sans… Isn’t that font the internationally acclaimed bane of the Designer’s life? You would think if you had enough money to set up an airline that you would be able to spend a little on a designer… I mean, I know a couple of students who would done a better job (for free)
And, of course, the BBC will want a nice panicked reaction with which to titillate the viewing public.
Tell me about it. I saw a “vox pop” the other day where people were complaining about the injuries they sustained from the escape slide / evacuation procedure 😮 would you rather be dead?!
However, “wobbly plane” definitely not ideal.
I don’t know how many warheads the Indians are able to put on one of these yet, but I would have thought there need to be a lot of missiles and warheads aimed at China to deter them.
I believe it’s a single one tonne warhead, according to this article Indian Agni-V Long-Range Missile Launch
You’re right, it would take a lot more than a single missile test to deter China. Now India have increased the missile’s range, they may start to focus on mobility/ deployment. There are rumours that the Agni-V is being adapted for use by the Indian Navy.
If only commercial airliners were this colourful! Great shots 🙂
On Mythbusters there is a lovely bit of footage of a school bus being destroyed by a 747.The bus is at about 6.30.
That’s insane. Really demonstrates the kind of force a jet engine can produce! I’m surprised more people haven’t been injured at Princess Juliana International Airport.
What annoys me, is that they have risked the council imposing strict restrictions on this area! Like cutting off that section of the beach.
Agreed. The sign is quite clear, but the incident will probably change the way security is run in the area – hopefully it won’t detract from the beauty of the location or the spectacle of being that close to a jet! This article Beach Airport Security Boost After Jet-Blast Incident seems to suggest that measures are already being taken to close off the area 🙁 I’ve got holiday coming up, maybe I’ll get myself and my camera over there before it’s too late!
