I belive that it has only moved , towed for engine test As far as I know it is yet to get airborne ( well no one at Glasgow has yet to see it leave the ground)
Its had a few flights doing GLA-GLA. I was taxiing out behind it on one of days it was flying, took me by surprise taxiing past an empty stand 82!
Quite recently it had its engines refitted and operated a few check flights. Maybe for a potential customer.
OMG! Thats terrible!!!
Thoughts and prayers with their family. 🙁
RIP
I like how gradually, nothin on GSM is matching anymore.
Firstly we had PTs tail looking faded compared to FG n OD.
Then we had the radome on G-SAAW [738] coming from G-CDKD [736], and lookin off.
JM’s engine cowling standing out.
Now we have JF’s cowling being borrowed from something else. 🙂
I believe we are require to have the tail as it is for a certain amount of time. LPL paid alot of money for us to have it and advertise on it.
I’m sure GSM would be desperate to get rid of it asap, especially as a reminder of last summers disaster of a season.
JM is possibly getting WFU very soon, so i think that might also explain the lack of repaint.
Got more information from my friends at SB. It appears the ATR chief pilot/trainer on the ATR was the captain of the flight.
Flyglobespan [GSM] dont have entertainment on our 738s, even on our Paphos flights [5hrs each way]. We dont get complaints.
No, affraid not, they found the wreckage about 2 hours ago. 🙁
‘A twin-prop passenger plane slammed into a mountain face shortly after taking off from a popular tourist spot in Venezuela’s rugged Andes region overnight, killing all 46 people on board, officials said Friday.
The ATR-42 aircraft, owned Santa Barabara Airlines, a Venezuelan company, was “practically pulverized” on impact.’
Its very sad news indeed. At GSM we leased one of our 767-300s to SB to operate flights for them. We also had the chance to fly with some SB crew, who were trained on the ATR.
All prayers and thoughts are with the families of the passengers and crew.
🙁 🙁 🙁
Fab shots of AW n OD.
I believe AW’s radome is from G-CDRA [737-600]
She has been flying around with a white nose. I believe it was a lightning strike. Our 800 on lease to GMG in Kuala Lumpar suffered a similar mishap.
Hint to our captains, avoid the red bits on your radar. 🙂
Nice set there! I seen ‘1254’ in CCS a few weeks ago. Was great to get a few shots while i was out with my own airline doing sub work for Santa Barbara.
Well said Renfrew, well said.
The crew on the programme were obviously still bitter about getting paid off with GSM. [nothing was in their contract to say they would be offered permanent] It shows they would rather continue the slating of their ‘ex’ company rather than trying to find a new job. The captain in particular was always one for slating the company whenever he could, usually over the smallest little thing.
The Icelandair lease was horrific, even Icelandair staff [who flew on our flights as crew AND paxs] could not believe FI had given GSM the specific a/cs. Both of which were removed from FI’s fleet due to problems, and renamed under Loftleider. Their reputations within FI were very well known, and it is a real shame they were partly to blame for the reputation GSM have now.
GSM have shortend their flying programme for this year and next. The work going on behind the scenes is slow, but promising. Recovery will happen.
By going with the loads GSM are had, there has not been damage to the paxs confidence towards us.
The crew used to have a week trip to CPT. However, due to changes in dep dates etc, it changed to the crew having 15 hours rest before flying bk home.
If you were on a YHM flt, the flightdeck were Icelandic, and probably on the phone to Icelandair Ops as well as GSM ops. The aircraft was also Loftleider a/cs and not GSMs a/cs. The TF regd leased a/cs were a major disaster and distruption to GSMs flight programme. So the flightdeck had nothing to do with GSM.
OD arrived at GSM three weeks ago. This was its first time to the UK.
Was meant to be due in on the Wed night.
Its been in Abu Dahbi receiving checks and trials for before replacing G-CEFG on the Air India runs while it was away for a C check.
Reason for the delay was due to emergency equipment being delivered and fitted onboard, also dressed for its first active flight. All paxs and crew were inform the pervious day of the change.
The tail of the first 767 [G-CDPT] was horrific and will be sent to the same paintshop FG and OD went to as soon as its retured from India. A photo of PT parked next to FG shows the full extent of the difference between the two variations.
