Herald from Southend To Birmingham and return. Was on a freight run.

Still like Heralds today and I can tell a Dart when I hear one, having been brought up to their noise living under the flight path to Southend Airport

Cant imagine Lightnings going up North with two missiles and a gat but massivley short legs, (I havent forgotten the F-8 did this) with out tanker support right on the DMZ. .

As for the rest of the RAF/RN I can see Vulcans, Victors and Bucc’s and Phantoms hard at work laying waste to all and sundry, but I fear a considerable toll would have been taken with SAM’s and AAA.

16 ton wheel change jack on unit

Bottle Jack Modified on paperwork (ex DARA St Athan).

No Idea how high they pump up to, but wheel change probably wont be high.

I have a load of stuff which I am going thru. Im afraid its all over. My B(I)6 covers a small amount, but not all of it.

Also some GSE as well, which is as above. Some is covered in the book, but not all.

If you want to see military aircraft flying, might I suggest you visit Afghanistan or Iraq.

This is where they, and they are the doing the job THEY ARE SUPPOSED to be doing.

That is supporting ground troops who are fighting a war whether we like that or not.

Surely there would have to be some sort of pre-issue trial at squadron strength or smaller, prior to general issue?

Maybe that would cover these little inexplicable situations..

“someone” I know used it to run a diesel car for ages after de-fueling a 1-11. Mix it with oil and it works a treat. Dries out the seals a bit but the car was on the verge of being for scrap anyway.

    Excuse my ignorance etc

But is that one lump or is it hollow??

I imagine its hollow, as if it was made from any material it would be a bit heavy!

Shoreham one way, and Coolham the other. Obviously Shoreham still active so cant really walk over that.

I drive past Coolham ALG every day and cannot help but imagine Mustangs parked up there, especially early in the morning with mist!!. It also has a number of public paths which I have walked on.
The pond where a Mustang crashed on take off is still there.

Also Truleigh Hill. Very important radar site. Been to have a look a number of times. Numbers of ROC posts (post war) and a few “Resistance” bunkers.

    Local history is fascinating.
