Was at Wattisham 87-90 and I remember it. Seem to remember it was an old USAF Radar site before it went to Watton.
There is some info somewhere on the net about it and its rather basic accomdation. (Eastern Radar??) Closed down a while ago.
Phil, i have PM’d you.
Ive got two Mk2H available. PM me if interested.
Iain has a very interesting e-mail address.
Wont divulge where as havent been in contact with him yet and I feel it wouldnt be ethical of me to say so without his permission.
Suffice to say Im sure he will know what it is off (or will have the facilities to find out) and that its an extremley good home within the UK – certainly a lot better than I expected.
E-bay is good after all (probably a one off!!!!!)
Definitley not a sit down Andover, the blue cheat line is inches above the roundel..and nothing shows on the plate..
The CC2 looks like a good option, especially with the sicky blue colour that Jag has commented on.

Just noticed this on here. Im afraid to say its mine…
I found it a while ago, cant quite remember where (believe it or not) but ive had it sitting in my warehouse for a considerable length of time. Finally got around to doing something with it so put it on “there”.
No idea what its off. As per CJH’s post it does have a curve to it so its not wing related. That prob makes it removed from the fuselage. It is metal (Aluminium) with a number of lines of rivets.
It appears to be completley surrounded by Grey as opposed to half white/grey as you would expect from say a Hastings fuselage or Argosy boom. To big for any small aeroplanes.
It has numerous stringers and longerons riveted to the back to give it plenty of strength (this actually makes it fairly heavy) so I would say something pressurised….not a helicopter.
No noticeable part numbers but is painted a nice sicky shade of light blue on the inside. Has been cut with either an angle grinder (that was probably hard work!!) or a Disc cutter.
If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.
Im happy for it to go to a good home (I have another one that Im keeping).
and Keith, its a B-25 from the 2007 Saywells calender in rather a nice frame. Not to sure what Im going to do with it yet.

Yep, Puma
There was a film with Rod Taylor(?). Loads of white Valiants. I seem to remember he ended up driveing it around the airfield? and then getting friendly with the lovely assistant in the tower. Looked a little bit like Gaydon but not to sure.
Thunderball and the Vulcans..not sure where however.
One of the crap Roger Moore ones (Octopussy?)at Upper Heyford with loads of F111 about to be destroyed by a nuke hidden in a circus cannon.
Northolt appears in a lot of the old late 1940, early 1950s involving any sort of flying. I like to look at the old “seiko hut” Terminal building and recognising them from when I was there in the early 80’s before they knocked them down.
The new Terminal appeared in an episode of spooks.
Started this research after the Hurricane crash at Shoreham. looking into airshow related accidents since 1980.
Never got around to finishing it but here you go.

Just read a book “Black Arrow Blue Diamond” by Brian Mercer. (pg50)
During Exercise Emperor on or around 14 October 1950
“Later the word filtered through that a Belgian Air Force Night Fighter had collided with a bomber in the Thames Estuary area. There are not expected to be any survivors.” Thats all there is on that.
I would assume that it would of been a RBAF Mosquito.
Someones mentioned the two B-17s near Canvey, but no mention of a Sunderland near the Kent side after the war that my Dad told me about.
Also got a few USAF accidents that are to the North of Manston if you are interested that far down the estuary.
On 24 Jan 1951 F-84E 49-2105 from the 308FES 31FEG crashed 4 Mi NE RAF Manston. The pilot was killed.
On 26 Jun 1951 F-84E 49-2055 from the 308FES 31FEG crashed after engine failure 3.5 Mi NE Dover. The aircraft was recovered and returned to service.
Both aircraft on detachment from Turner AFB GA.
Pagen and Scorpion.
Appreciate the info. I will have a look at the cliffs a bit closer when down there next. The Riveria on Mawgan Porth was closed and looking a bit derelict when I was down last. Been in there a few time but never noticed anything.
I seem to remember a board up in the bar on the beach at Watergate, but I havent been in there for a long while now. I prefer the one up the road a bit!
The site on USAAF accidents you are after is
http://www.aviationarchaeology.com/
I do a little bit of work for the chap – im presently doing the 1950’s accident listings for him. More of a hobby than proper research.
Was it another Warwick that was lost after take off that allegedly had a load of gold on board? or is it the same but a different story?
Thanks for the replies. Just what the doctor ordered Pagen01! as you say a bit spooky about the dates. I have been looking for ages but never found anything so I was completely unaware of the dates when this happened.
I vaguely remember again from what I read that there was possibly a memorial placed on the cliffs above/near the site as a memorial. Are you aware if this is the case and if so any ideas where it is? On the St Mawgan side of the beach or the Trevarrian side?
Apologies for the questions, but its the only way to get answers!
Thanks for the replies…e-mails have been sent..I will let you know what happens.
Even better is that the person who does the contact info for the HP association lives just around the corner! I drive past the address on the contact page every day that I go to work.
Im not just going to turn up with a bundle of soggy paperwork however, just in case the other half is anything like mine. I only got away with having an engine nose cowl in the back garden by saying it was for a hot tub!
Never ceases to amaze me what a small world it is!
Maybe a bit off key and to stoke the fires somewhat….but I think its sort of relevant!
I was in the mob for 10 years at very noisy Phantom, Tornado, Gazelle/Wessex and VIP Transport bases on the Operations side of life. Had to deal with many a noise complaint and could bore you with a few stories!!
Lived and worked at Heathrow for a major airline for a number of years. I know what noise Concorde made, can still hear it even now in my memory.
I am now part of a company that provides parts to keep large noisy aircraft and helicopters flying all around the world on the management side of things. We use Kemble a little bit and Ive been there a few times this year on day visits for work related matters. Its a lovely airfield and the staff there cannot be more helpful despite there workload.
I live in a small village in a council house approx 50 yds from a very busy bypass. I live under a route used by Chinnooks (hmm Special Forces insertion??) coming over late evening, have GA aircraft from the airport just down the road and a quiet Police helicopter that scares the crap out of me when it skims over at 150ft and lower without announcing itself. I Also have two major airways going over many miles above that my kids love to point out when they are contrailing.
My complaint? Well its none of the above as it all has good operational reasons.
What im whingeing about is one aircraft. Its a very noisy second world war era training aircraft. He choses to do aerobatics for 20 minutes or so in the local area to where I live. Is he training? Is he testing? No he provides pleasure flights.
A valid reason? Im not so sure. I suppose it does promote Warbird awareness, but I would imagine that the customers are people such as ourselves (i hope I can use that description here). People who are already aware. Maybe im wrong on that and happy to be corrected.
I dont complain about the noise (except here) as
I am in the industry.
I enjoy aviation and all it entails.(except a Harvard doing aeros in my local area)
My family indulge my passion (though my youngest prefers trains for some unknown reason).
Should I allow this one problem to ruin the only days rest I get from a extremley busy workload? On a Saturday/Sunday afternoon when I and my family are trying to relax it is quite difficult to do so when you getting the noise of prop blades going supersonic whilst the aircraft is going up and down and round and about. Go and do it over the sea is what I say…plenty of it to the south! If the weathers no good, please wait until its better.
NIMBY- you bet, Hypocrite – Oh yeah, and proud of it. I can own up to it.
I await the excited responses.
