Some joker has added the O on the end I reckon. The PTF is stencilled and the O appears written on.

PTF is probably either the section or less possibly the inventory code.

Looks like a Stores or Drop tank cradle to me.

Any data plate or numbers on it?

Need to ask an armourer (if he can drag himself away from his game of freckles)

I read an accident report a while back of a B-45 Tornado that was badly damaged by the Rear Gunner (I think) having a smoke on full Oxygen.

He was badly burned not surprisingly. The report has a whole load of parping about the dangers of smoking with full oxygen about, but not whilst flying.

Accident would have been early 1950’s.

    Don’t you mean stern?

Apologies, but I am an ex crab, not a navy b*mmer.

Its front and back of a boat, toilet not a head and none of that man overboard malarkey for me!

Its a lovely photo thou, you can see the size differences between the two carriers clearly.

Just seems odd to find something like a PC-6 on an American (or any) boat. My first thoughts also where ex Vietnam but the photo is dated 1978 so a little late. The aircraft isnt protected either so probably not a delivery.

B-17 and B-24s mostly. And where the “site” is now there appear to be Mustangs (or similar) and other single engine types.

Know the place well, I did no end of detachments to Honnington in the late 80’s and very early 90’s.

Spey is EU (at least 1-11) along with some other letter combinations. Never seen RS before I have to say – doesnt appear in my book…

Of absoleutley no use what so ever sadly.

Quite a few years back (mid to late ninetes) I stayed in a campsite on the Cherbourg peninsula over looking the sea and it had a fair few “interesting” lumps of concrete that where launch ramp shaped and ancillary building shaped.
The direction they where pointed was Southampton/Portsmouth – I was living in that particular area at the time – and the person who ran the site said they where V1 launch ramps.

I have no idea where it was, I have looked for it on google earth in the recentish past with no joy.

Hi, I already have a considerable collection of Canberra Manuals. From B2 upto B62 with a load in between.

However I am looking for the B(I)8 Schedule of Spare Parts or Illustrated Parts Manaul for that family only as I have nothing at all on it.

The item on e-bay is the Pilots Notes only. I know its strange but not something I collect and something that is of very limited use to my requirements.

Pretty sure ive tried Newark in the past but I shall try again, wont hurt to try again. Tried Flixton as well, and they wanted a copy if I ever found one.

I would take it in any form.

Hi, thanks for the pointers. No joy with the IWM that I can see.

Havent tried the RAFM as yet. That will be a last resort as the cost of copying it will be a little prohibitive and they wont allow me to scan it (understandably). I have used them in the past when ive needed “that elusive manual” and they are very helpful.

On and off talk to the guys at Kemble but they only have PR9 – its nearly but not quite the side of the Canberra family that im after. I have helped them out in the past with information in the past for some of the systems for the PR7 strangely. Wife’s health problems preclude any further involvement.

Air Atlantique only have the what I call the early Canberras. I have even tried contacts that I have in New Zealand and Germany.

Ive been looking for this elusive IPC for the last three/four years (on and off) to add to my rather “boring” collection.

Just had a thought, has anyone got a contact for the SAAF Museum??

Other manuals or parts exchange is definitley preffered.

Cash sale wouldnt go down to well with the masters of the forum… although push came to shove etc

Please bear in mind the distance for pick up. I am to the North of Shoreham Airport, West Sussex, although that makes it good for the early Aerojumble.

Also got the Illustrated Parts Catalogue as well which is the very in depth version.

I am really DESPERATE for a B(I)8 family Canberra Parts manual…….. there has to be one out there somewhere…

Ah yes, that will be why then. Read about his passing in one of the local papers.
