Saw them with jim Pearce at his establishment a year or so ago
These are the C130H panels for access to the fuel tanks. Almost same design and the part numbers are the same format.
Never dealt with the E, but these particular panels are either a L or an R.
Could be Electra or P-3 but the fuel access panels are rectangular.

That probably explains why its not in my E/H pretty picture book then.

Where abouts in France?
Saw an F-15 take off once, lose an engine – lots of flame etc.
Someone had a left a helmet in the intake.

Could I ask for picture directly onto the face please….
Lovely pictures there. Had a look in the back of the Kennett A-1 a few years back (always a little ambition of mine!) not much room there even when it was all stripped out. Always amazes me that the COD aircraft could get 12 people in it. Had a look in the back of a Gannet a few weeks after that, was only a bit bigger
Sorry thread drift there!
Agree with you Moggy, cant even offer an explanation for that. This is probably one of those conundrums that will run.
Moggy
Thanks for the cockpit pic, was going to look for one today.
Hard to work out if its a single seater or the AEW version or even if its a Royal Navy aircraft. Could you clarify a little as to what the piccy is from. – answered before i finished – had to do the skool run !!!
Im only guessing its Skyraider not offering any answers, Ive come to this by a process of elimination that can be and will 100% flawed – more than happy to admit to that.
1. FAA tag – Naval Aircraft
2. HMS Eagle – Carrier based
3. Instrument could be manufactured 1956 –
4. See what was aboard HMS Eagle in 1956 and after, gives us Wyven, Skyraider, Sea Hawk, Sea Venom. Other aircraft types (bar cross decking and visits) where not afloat until 1959.
5. There are a few Sea Hawk and Sea Venoms floating about and no one has owned up to having one fitted to their aircraft.
6. Leaves Wyvern and Skyraider.
7. The 6A/NIV is the intriguing part. Thats why I come to the Skyraider conclusion. Did the Skyraider have a 26 vocab section or more likely a 126 vocab section…I cant seem to find one for the aircraft in my notes.
If it didnt have a vocab section, then perhaps anything fitted to it was NIV – other than parts that cross-refered to other aircraft.
One other option is that it was some kind of test and evaluation kit perhaps for Wyvern but to me its to chunky for that.
We will probably find out the parts for something very different…. onboard crane!!
Interestingly the Kelvin & Hughes archives are at Glasgow University although they only hold the financial info for the dates applicable to this..
Best bet is the Smiths Museum that i mentioned but have no knowledge of.
Definitley Kelvin & Hughes then, like I said!!!:D
Nothing else discernible from the tag or the data plates unfortunatley. I think the Strathallan date is when they took it on probably so perhaps a bit of a red herring.
Would HMS Eagle have a simulator?? Could of been incorrectly delivered.
Also, having no knowledge of any aircraft carrier parts could it be part of the landing system and still have a 6A section ref??
Personally I think its Skyraider, probably only fitted to them as a UK bit of kit to aid landing on UK decks. Its an interesting bit of kit anyway.
