I have found a small pic in the gallery of the Blackburn Buccaneer Society website http://www.buccsociety.com/
There is no direct link so click on Gallery, then click on Crown Copyright Page 2.
I think FI made a mistake and thought Corax and Raven were two seperate programs. I hope I’m wrong as I was looking forward to seeing another new British aircraft π
Here is the original article and the part about Raven http://www.flightinternational.com/Articles/2005/12/19/Navigation/177/203649/BAE+unveils+its+UCAV+secrets.html
The DIS document also makes reference to a BAE-developed UAV design called Raven, which it says βwent from concept to first flight within 10 monthsβ. Further details on the classified design are expected to be released in mid-January.
Here is a list of Kingston projects http://www.harrier.org.uk/history/projects.htm I would guess it’s the P.1220 or P.1228.
The three poster aircraft was a Rolls Royce illustration possibly in conjunction with ‘BAe Kingston’ dating back to the early 1980,s (VFAX I think was mid 1970’s)
I think you are right JAZZ, I couldn’t find any more info but found some art work by Adrian Mann here http://www.aemann.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/aircraft/speculative/harrier2.html
The very fact that you have resorted to calling me a kid merely shows that you lack the knowledge and the skill to maintain a civilised and educated discussion.
π LOL π
mark1100, I did warn you this would happen if you criticized the T45, you should think yourself luckly that douggie didn’t join in π
What will the F125 look like? anything like this MEKO X concept?
MEKO X brochure http://212.72.173.53/media/9297f3d7f6e11da037c85329a695892f.pdf
How exactly does the F124 have mor punch? it can only carry 32 VLS cells to the T45’s 72
The T45 doesn’t have 72 VLS yet, it only has 48 capable of 1x Aster each.
The F124 can carry both Standard and ESSM 4 packs in its 32 VLS, if it loaded 24x Standards it could take 32x ESSM giving a total of 56 missiles (+ 2x 21 cell RAM would equal 98 SAMs).
Depending on how good the threat weapons are the F124 could shoot down more targets.
The ship in the picture is not an F124 and the source says nothing about putting a 155mm gun on the F124, I would be amazed if there was even space for that to happen on the F124.
Prepare to be amazed π
http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/f124/ GUNS
A KMW PzH 2000 howitzer turret with a 155mm gun has been mounted on the deck of FGS Hamburg (F220) as a demonstration of the feasibility of the system for naval applications. The concept is called MONARC and requires a flexible elastic mounting. MONARC has a range of 22nm. Live fire trials were conducted in September 2003.
The T45 has the PRINCIPAL ANTI-AIRCRAFT MISSILE SYSTEM (PAAMS) which is widely believed to be the best system available at the moment. It also has electric propulsion and a 7,000nm+ range.
Apart from those features I prefer the layout of the F124, it can operate 2x helos and it’s weapons are positioned better than on the T45.

Watch out mark1100, criticising the T45 makes you unpopular π look what happened to me in the Type 45 launch website thread http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=52786
and more expensive π
StIll Il keep praying the F5.
I still disagree that a different T45 design would have to cost more money.
The F5 is great but it needs a bigger hangar π F5 brochure http://www.bmtdsl.co.uk/pdfs/datasheet/pentamarands.pdf
Calm down, it was just an example. I have no idea about the financial details, but it wouldn’t be cheaper than the current design, that’s for damn sure π Given that the MoD is obviously trying to reduce the purchase I think it’s safe to say that this would have an impact either on the number of hulls built or the individual capabilities (read: its primary mission equipment). The RN simply can not afford to make that compromise, IMHO.
Sorry if I sounded rude Trident, I did that post in a rush.
The RN and MOD have been making lots of compromises lately, I don’t see how anything I’ve suggested compares with fleet reductions of escorts and mine hunters and Sea Harrier early retirement.
SteveO, you are usually a great and well informed poster but on this issue you just seem to hate the T-45 without giving a reason why.
Thank you sealordlawrence,
I really don’t understand why you think I hate the T45, I’m just disappointed by the lack of imagination in the design. I know it’s adequate for the RN’s needs and it’s got some great new equipment but I can’t help thinking how it could have been better.
Nope. RN ship turbines burn Dieso and the choppers use Avcat.
Are you sure?
I know that the T23 is powered by both diesel and turbine engines but the T42, T22 and Invincible class are all turbine powered. What is the advantage of using diesel?
Do you have more info?
I was going to reply to the rest of your post but I would only end up repeating myself.
