🙁 If our governments had supplied our shipyards with a steady supply of work instead of their stupid feast or famine procurement polices those shipyards would be in a better position to deliver the quality and costs the government wants.
SteveO, yes they look good don’t they, if only the government would let the royal marines have a few to go in the new amphibious fleet
🙂 They would make great (and expensive 😉 ) alternatives to the Rigid Raiders and maybe the LCVPs too. Arm them with a cannon, some missiles and a mortar and you’ve got a really useful asset.
Depressingly, I doubt the MOD would get any even if they were being given away free, it seems procurement is all about having meetings rather than actually buying anything 😡
Carrying a few amphibious vehicles on any type of naval surface vessel is a good idea in my opinion, it would be great to see some amphibious engineer vehicles being put ashore when a warship turns up to a disaster zone. It would be fun watching a EFV chasing pirates or smugglers up the beach too :diablo:

XX963, GR.1, 02 Dec 1975 – Accidently shot down over W. Germany by Phantom FG.1 on 25 May 1982. The 14 sqd pilot ejected.
😮 whoops! 😮
Here is the first good photo I have seen of an 80mm guided rocket (with another 80mm unguided rocket next to it.)
Interesting pic, does the LGB style guidance section mean a custom warhead is needed or is it a repackaged standard warhead?
I was watching a TV program called ”Future Weapons” on the Discovery channel last night and it showed a Longbow Apache on a firing range attacking a tank at close range with cannon and rockets. The cannon scored direct hits every time but the rockets always hit a little in front or behind the tank. I can see how this frustrating low direct hit probability inspired the APKWS.
Sweden could go for the proposed anti-radar variant of the Meteor missile http://www.bayernchemie-protac.com/meteor.htm
I can’t remember what this C-17 is launching but it seems relevant.
There’s an image and link on page 1 or 2 of the ‘Impressive Weapons Load’ thread (aka ‘The tbzz thread’).

I think an economical high performance turboprop like the PC-21 http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/pc_21/ would be the best option. Save the big money for frontline equipment.
I have heard of this before and think it’s a useful capability that probably only needs a bit of extra software to make possible. It could prove very useful for cruise missile defence and maybe act as a auto-trigger during a dogfight for snap shots.
I have just watched a new MEGASTRUCTURES on the National Geographic channel about the AgustaWestland EH-101 Merlin and I highly recommend it. The camera work is excellent and the picture quality makes think it was filmed in high definition as it looked fantastic even on my old TV.
Watching those Italian, RN and RAF pilots throwing that big helicopter around makes for some gut wrenching viewing, buy some more MOD 😀
How could they have a Crusader II when they’ve already had a Crusader III? 🙂
3 already! what are the other 2 I missed?
I’d swap those Humvees for some Expeditionary Fighting Vehicles 😀
