Anyone notice on the Blenheim the new pilot mast has been removed.

The mast was only installed as a trial fit and is now in the paint shop before being installed to stay then comes the job of plumbing it in to the instruments.
having the Old Un on her feet is a great tonic to the team, but there is still some way to go.
Good luck tomorrow to all those who bought tickets in the grand draw.

    BRISTOL BLENHEIM
there is another one to add to the list. some what tiring task but as long as the engine is primed correctly and the boost coil is working a successful start can be acheived. Believe me it`s hard work though and another engineer required for number two engine.
oh those were the days:) one day! one day!

Thanks for clearing that up cas.. much appreciated.
Any idea when she will be leaving Duxford, as i would like to be around when she flies out?

    I will let you know
but it will be dependent on CAA and weather

    Duxford Bronco

G-BZGK has just undergone it`s annual maintenance and check flight and now is awaiting permit renewal before returning to it`s home base for the winter.

G-BZGL is still in the hanger undergoing a lot of battle damage repair removals and permit issue work.

The CAA permit to fly renewal system is currently in termoil.
from recent experiences with the process anything from 14 to 21 days seems to be the normal waiting time for re-validation.

The yellow Bolingbroke fuselage is IWM’s example isn’t it? This has been under restoration for many years IIRC. I saw it about six years ago in this condition, but it is good to see an example being restored to display standard

    Cheers

    Cees

All of the previous restoration work carried out on this airframe was by the Aircraft Restoration Company, Owners of the only airworthy Blenheim at the time, work was halted several years ago on this aircraft in order to concentrate on other projects for the Hanger One refurbishment.
after several years of sitting around it is good to see that she will be finally finished to her rightfull condition

The aircraft was a Mk.1-F L6836 belonging to a special Fighter Interception Unit ( FIU ) based initially at Tangmere then moved to Ford for operational reasons.
On the night of the 22/23 July 1940 L6836 flown by F/O G Ashfield , His radar operator was Sgt R. Leyland, along with Observer P/O gG Morris and WOp/Ag were credited with the destruction of a Dornier Do 17z using the AI radar.
    (Probally the Mk. 3 version.)

I do not have the marking and colour information for this unit but I`m sur someone will be able to shed some light on that.

    hi bruce

the rivets are used on spitfire tailplanes but as far as we can see only in one area which is a bit odd.
this is realy just a bit of a mystery we want to look into

ok, ok, point taken, but perhaps a little advance warning ??
as we all enthusiast’s ! or is it a need to know basis ??
it might have been a tad usefull to put a early warning on the Forum, or make it a day two affair ?? and then give us the chance to down tools and make the journey.
no offence just another opinion or am i a lone voice ?? 🙂

The only advance warning given to this occurence came in a phone call about 40 mins before the arrival, the company was aware that Dave and Peter hoped to bring the aircraft up to duxford for a visit at some point weather and aircraft permitting. to arrange a two day visit publically posted at such short notice is I am afraid to say totally non viable.
Sorry maybe later in the year.

(Ian – Tamils flying the odd suicide mission around Colombo the night before last. They tried to take out the Air Force HQ flying Czech built Zlin Trainers packed with explosives…without success…they hit the tax office!)

    “without success” ??
maybe they could try here and with luck hit number 10 or a tax office.:diablo:
