For me it is the big bit of undercarriage framework from a Blenheim and steel cappings from bits of spar that kind of give the game away.
I think you have hit the nail severerly on the head by saying Blenheim
the undercarriage of the Blenheim is very distinct with its down lock and up lock mechanism.

Max speed < 200 mph
Max rate of climb < 2,000 fpm

Certainly isn’t a combat type (Unless a Swordfish)
Rumour has it that this was not the best prepared aircraft and driver for the flight across the pond.

I can assure you that the pilot has well over 20,000 hours of which many are involved in ferry flights, his decision to spend a day or two at duxford was to rectify a couple of problems prior to uk departure.
he only departed when he was happy with the aircraft.

I may be wrong but I seem to remember the RAF VC10`s having a periscope facility on them.
so could it be from them

ok ladies and gents
we have got the vulcan back in the air now let`s look to a new project to support,
the Blenheim 1 will be a unique aircraft in that it was the first all metal monoque design to enter RAF service back in the 1930`s and was the mainstay both in fighter and bomber command at the outbreak of hostilities.
by supporting events such as this at sywell will be informative and supportive of a great aviation icon.
let`s make it a maximum booked event.. :):)

Usually an incident in which the prop hits something solid which stops the engine means a teardown of said engine. The term is ‘shockloaded’. Just think of a crankshaft suddenly stopping still while a few cylinders are still pushing on the other end. That’s liable to bend something.
.

having viewed the photos and seen the damage to the props it will be seen that only the tips suffered, therefore with the engine at taxi speed low revs and a wooden prop will hopefully mean minimal damage to engine if any,
wooden props were fitted for one of these reasons as to minimise engine shock loads and get them back in the air asap during operations,
the bigger worry will be to the gear and radiators which will need to be inspected and repaired.

Blenheim Progress

Sunday the 30th March saw a major step forward with the restoration of the Bristol Blenheim, When for the first time in what seems many years the Mk.1 nose was re-positioned and the jig internal structure was removed.
this enabled us to check the lateral and horizontal levels against the datum, and as can be seen smudge was more than pleased with the results.
the next phase is to replace or repair all of the tubular structure which supports the glazing.
Following that stage we will be in a position to remove the nose from the jig and trial fit it onto the fuselage and our first real chance to see what a Blenheim Mk.1 will look like.

OK Gentlemen

Should we not be discussing how we are going to raise the miserly sum of £150,000 to get the old girl up flying rather than discussing the pros and cons as to what went wrong 20 years ago. both accidents have been weel documented and disected over the years, and all to the same conclusion,
I am certain the Blenheim will not be a one flight wonder money pit and as before grace the skies for many years.
