Bloody hell! Now that would be worth seeing – any ideas when the last time a Battle saw air under its wheels was?
Adrian
october 1987 at duxford and it`s not a joke as others will testify
we stood watching it fly for some considerable time
have you spoken to aircraft restoration company at duxford
currently have a lysander under rebuild
it`s an original english built 1939 lizzie with good history not a canadian copy
also with the conection through to historic`s spitfires it might be worth a call
oh dear
HI-OCTAIN will be getting over excited if we start puttig pickies of bowsers on the web :diablo:
Well it didn’t look too bad sat out on the airfield at 09:00 this morning in the lovely Autumn sunshine with only me and my camera for company 🙂
OH so thats where you were when the boss was looking for you :diablo:

I note in the Hurricane picture, Roobarb is checking for typo’s on page 20 of the new Flypast whilst pushing at the same time…..what dedication![/QUOTE]
When you get a new toy it`s always wise to read the instructions :diablo:
Page 2 where to push!!!
The codes of a certain Spitfire might be a clue as to who the new owner of both of these is! 😉
CR-S so who is that then?
I think I am right in saying that the Duxford Belfast hangers are already on the preservation list.
however it would be good to see some of the other structures added also
it is deep regret that this information is posted by the operators of the vulcan
but totally predictable;
large company promises and quotes + lotto money= uplifted prices and over spends.
we should have all known this was coming by looking at domes and stadiums
the real loosers will be the rest of the people asking for lotto money to help their respective projects.
the lottto people were reluctant to enter into this type of funding and will be certain to look at all future applications of this type with a negative view.
Hi mantog
if you want help in identifying these bits then please do contact either myself or kigas with some pickies and we will happily try and identify them if they are from a blenheim.
Pierre`s passing is a great sadness . it was his book which hooked me into old aircraft, it`s a great read and i highly recommend it.
maybe oneday we will see a tiffy in his colours
rule one in press reporting
never i repeat
never let the truth get in the way of a good story
Thanks Cas!
How does one become a volunteer on these projects, ask nicely or join the queue?!
Alan.
Alan the answer to that is simple “ask nicely”
ARC are always on the lookout for volunteers willing to work as needed so please contact us .
after all the majority of the work force at ARC started as volunteers
Cas, is the Lysander/ Blenheim work done on a full time basis or ‘volunteer hours’ as and when time permits?
Apologies if this has been asked before!
Alan.
the answer to this is yes on both counts
presently we have a engineer on both projects nearly full time with volunteers assisting as and when they can
The news from the workshop is this:-
LYSANDER the wings were structurally completed on the 26th feb along with the fin. work has now commenced on the rudder and tailplane,
we will be starting the fuselage survey as soon as it is possible to move it into the workshop, this will involve a detailed photographic and measureing program to ensure all is recorded to help in the rebuild phase.
BLENHEIM the wings and centre section have had all the structrual work completed and work is inhand on the rear fuselage with a target date of may for completion. hopefully this will enable us to commence some systems work and possible mating of sections
that will only leave the engines and nose repairs ( if you say it quick it does not sound much ) however this is a large part of the repair and may take some time and lots of financing to achieve.
I would have thought eastleigh / southampton would be a better place to be on sunday. 🙂
the anniversary is to be re-enacted by ARC TR9 at the exact smae time and then will be joined by a further 4 spits for a fly-by 🙂
one of these is making its debut appearance in public 😉
