the reason for the royal navy fuel bouser is they are running on 130 octane fuel and duxford could only supply 100LL so they bought their own.

the point to note is that in the photo the rpm is reading zero therefore the engine is not running and therefore the generator is not producing power. therefore if the indicator is reading mid scale it must be a ammeter because it would be pointless to tell a pilot that his battery is totaly flat and impossible to tell him it it actually negative voltage

judging by the location of the needle on the said instrument I would say this is a ammeter it would have zero in the middle of scale and then show either a charge or discharge rate . and it much more likely that the Mk14 would have been 24 volt

the owner of TD248 can switch paint schemes at the drop-of-a-hat! Was the repaint sponsored by someone?

The trick is to use water wash paint similar to emulsion very quick to use for film work or airshow requests
then when finnished it just take a couple of days to wash off and clean back 😎

usual military problem evoked during times of peace

    labour goverment cut backs

the poor old girl needed a upgrade but in usual labour style it was cheaper to axe her and then talk of a replacement for the next twenty years

The runway at duxford was re-surfaced at the end of last year but due to problems with the mix has started to break up in certain areas leading the IWM and the CAA agreeing to prop driven operations only from the runway. so no jets will be landing at duxford this airshow season,
it`s going to be a quiet year !!!!!!!!!!!!:(

the lysander is not as good as it sounds….
what you see is what you get…

I saw her at Brandon in Canada november 2002
the airframe and wings have been sheeted in alloy and we suspect pop riveted into the spars. and there is very little systems internally

it would probally make the basis of a good static but not much else
