The blue touch paper has been lit so stand well back:D
John, I hope you haven’t been jumping into any cold water to rescue somebody recently? Sometimes big balls are not enough unless applied with a bit of thought and common sense. :D:D
I do not know what is behind this but understand it is about comments made on here. If so name and shame them. If they had any balls they would stand up and make a public apology.
Personally if it became a choice of having Mark12 on this forum and banning the person responsible, assuming that to be the case, then I know which way I would vote!!!
Hi Moggy I see reports of your demise were somewhat exaggerated I am pleased to say I would have missed your biting wit!!:D
I saw it as a public relations stunt Charlie. I cannot remember where I read this and, of course, it was media report so not reliable.
Take your point about Mrs Gloag though.
Watch out Charlie you are past the 10K posts.
Thanks that is good news.
In the Thanetgazette post #100 it mentions that RiverOak would want to relocate the two museums. Am I wrong in understanding that the land on which they stand was gifted to them by Mrs Goag et al or was it just tenure?
Very sorry to hear that Charlie, I wish you both well.
A bit more from Thanet’
I not that the LDC are not granting permission other than for airport use but, as far as I am aware you do not need planning approval for demolition, although I haven’t checked to see if this applies in a case such as this.
The reason that I came to this forum is because I am interest in aviation but have little personal knowledge. Here I found many learned people who are happy to share their hard earned knowledge accumulated over many years. There are a number that I particularly respect and some have posted on this thread! Obviously Mark12 is very high on my list of respected members. I haven’t been around myself for a few months so did not notice his absence. Likewise moggy, what would we have done without his sharp wit and expert handling of some tricky issues?
Let us hope that Mark12 is well, and I very much hope he will return to the forum with his wealth of knowledge.
We do have a number of forumites who delight in making antagonistic and sometimes personal remarks and even I have become involved with a couple.
Let us reassure Mark12 that we are sure that the vast majority of forumites appreciate his contributions and he is very sorely missed.
Indeed Charlie.
Long time no see. Hope you are well. We are down in Bromley struggling with the health care system regarding she who must be obeyed’s mother. (have I got the apostrophe right there?)
Radar being dismantled.
American firm RiverOak, twice rejected by Thanet council as an indemnity partner, has submitted a pre-application Development Consent Order (DCO), to bypass Thanet council by taking their case to central government.
In recent weeks, RiverOak has met with the Department for Transport (DfT) and with the Planning Inspectorate to discuss their DCO application.
The American firm discussed the potential for compulsory acquisition of land currently associated with two operational museums as the land could be required in respect of highways improvement. However, the minutes stated RiverOak noted their intention that the museums would be provided with upgraded facilities as part of its development.

Couldn’t agree with you more on both points. And is sadly going on still at other sites.
Personally I blame the shareholders of Brooklands (Weybridge) Ltd for a lack of vision.
Moggy what have you done, yet another P38 Harlech thread going over all the same issues as you rightly say “again”. The only news was the grant and Ancient Monument status. So here we have another survey, but of what? The sand? How do you protected it physically when it is buried under sand in the tidal zone? Although the beach is fairly isolated in winter there is a good car park at the rear of the beach and only a few locals dogging, I mean walking their dogs. It would be very easy to access the site, which is certainly not a secret anymore, and plunder. No legal status of any form would stop the looters, you would need a 24 hour guard. When I visited the site in December 2014 I had no problems working out where the location was and that the she was buried again.
Forget Tigar and fizzing all been done to death in previous threads. If someone wants to pay to recover her that’s their business. If the Welsh government want to stump up money even better. If the government money pays for recovery perhaps to the Caernarfon museum just along the coast all well and good. The big questions are would the museum want it and do the government understand what is necessary after recovery? The answer in both cases is probably not.

Sounds good to me! Where is this museum?
