Yes I remember the Professionals but it hasn’t withstood the test of time unlike another famous Capri driver, Del Boy with which the car is now forever associated!!.:D

Yes I am not a lover of the Cold War hanger which I consider to be far too cramped, but at least it provides cover.

Cosford is completely different to Hendon. Larger exhibits are outside, other than those in the Cold War, but for me it is the collection of test aeroplanes and prototypes which are of greatest interest. In general presentation is good and you are up close to the exhibits. I do not think there is any huge historical connections at Cosford, please correct me if wrong, whereas, of course, Hendon is steeped in both aviation and RAF history. So there is nothing like the Grahame-White factory and office at Cosford. As already mentioned here and in the current Valiant thread this is your only opportunity to see the whole airframe. The Vulcan is displayed so that you can stand in the open bomb bay.
You and your Cadets will certainly enjoy your visit.

Newark is an excellent museum and you should have a chat with twinotter who may well be along soon.

Probably not if gifted or donated which is why I would take the precaution of making a “long term loan”. In this way ownership stays with you and should the receiving museum go out of business owing money then the official receiver is not able to sell property that does not belong to the museum.
In the specific case at MOSI I doubt very much if the new broom would want to keep it if the other aeronautical exhibits go. Although they would have the option of selling it to buy something, in their eyes, more interesting, sorry I ment more relevant to the museum. ?

Get it back quick would be my advice and “loan” it to one of our excellent dedicated air museums. Times are hard and no where is “safe” but if you retain ownership the receiver cannot touch it.

Now I wonder who do we know with the necessary skills and fund raising capability and who are also looking for a new project? Would certainly provide in the air presence whilst the Mossie is being built. Or even a Classic Air Force Mk2!:D.

Hi Rob, found you but not hard I guess, should have thought of it earlier!

Bit late with a comment now but better ………

Exposure is always a problem. Correct exposure is a matter of opinion to a large extent and, in my view, also dependant on what you are trying to illustrate in the picture, assuming it is not purely artistic.

On the basis of if they were taken by me I would probably feel that the tri plane is under.
Sally a bit more difficult as more effected by the back light. I would probably try to lighten it a bit but suspect would return to as is.
The Hurricane whilst I see why you might consider over I would be very tempted to leave as is. Assuming the plane to be the object of attention the detail shown in this exposure does it for me, possibly just a tad down otherwise.

Not much help really but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder and very subjective and you are sure to get critism what ever you do.:D

David is, of course, right and all this has been well covered in previous threads. Even so I am sure a careful eye should be kept on events.

Do you mean the Museum of Science and Industry?
I thought the threat of closure had been lifted last year. Is it under threat again?

    Pete

Yes Pete it certainly is, there is a new broom.:D and she doesn’t like aeroplanes.

There are, of course, several threads on the trials and tribulations of MOSI and the aeroplanes in particular, I understand that the Shack has been under cover for a very long time and should be in very good condition.

One of the latest threads that reported on the new broom can be found in post #1 here,
    http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?136438-Manchester-Air-and-Space,

although it is not the only one.

I think there is a good case for a merger.

Apparently the video and photo sequences have been “pulled” according to members on this forum thread

Whilst one can see the attraction of going out with a roll, much discussed on other threads, surely if, as responsible pilots, such a roll was planned under the current circumstances it would have taken place off shore as any undesirable outcome would have had dire consequences.
