leap into the unknown. )
Let’s hope not!
Is this not now referred to as the Absolute Land Speed Record where anything goes as long as it has 4 wheels and stays on the ground. Separate cat for 3 wheels and presumably wheel driven. I understand that there will be technological spin off but cannot help feeling that this might be of more immediate use from wheel driven attempts.

I haven’t been following it, Charlie, but I am, of course, interested in any engineering subjects and obtaining records for GB. However, I feel that the ALSR is mostly about keeping a vehicle on the ground and would be more interested in wheel driven attempts although presumably these are still going on?
Thanks for the link.

Very sad to hear that the motorcyclist involved in the M11 incident on Saturday has died. He was Mr. Dan Curran and was only 21. I am sure all our thoughts are with his family and friends at this tragic time.
Beautiful pictures many thanks for posting. On our bucket list and nearly went last Tuesday but decided we did not have time to do it justice!!
The Comet cockpit is incredible, cannot wait to see it for real. How did it smell?
Thanks Mark12 I thought it was a strange question as the serial was partly visible.
I meant to say that if anybody can see a mistake I am very pleased to have it corrected.
Sopwith: The first shot is of P7308.
I took photos of many pilots and will post shortly. I do not know there names nor did I relate them to specific aircraft but the sequence of shots may help, I will take a look.
Now the Spitfires.
This section was called Target London?
Taking part 17 Spitfires and, well, no Hurricanes!
So let’s count them all out, well actually, while out and back again as well. Some of the pictures are not of the quality I would normally post, especially of TD248, but for the sake of completeness all are included.
AR213 painted as P7308.
I never ignore knockers. 😀
Thanks for that Charlie. Not crown copyright. Some have credits some not. Some are from Flight which are freely available for use from their website anyway. They are packed with wonderful photos and illustrations.
Hope to get the Spits uploaded today but number 17, one from the USA, has proved a bit camera shy, neither ‘er in doors or self obtained a shot of the sort of quality I would normally post but for the sake of completeness I think I will have to.
Had a chance to take a look at the books I bought for a £1 each. It turns out that they were originally from the Royal Aircraft Establishment library at Farnborough and date from the 30s. I just love browsing these old books and their now period pictures and written in a straightforward language that I can understand.
Wonders of World Aviation Part 1 and Encyclopaedia of Aviation.
Can anybody tell me what the copyright position would be with regard to images within these books in relation to posting in a forum please?
Its quite safe if you know what you are doing and careful. But never had a Hi vis jacket.
Dave
Ah you need the Hi Vis so that the prop can see you coming. Is there such a thing as “quite safe IF……”?
I think he should have been wearing a helmet, goggles and ear defenders. Just saying.:D
Is the Cub fly by wire?
Thanks Mike. No it’s a tether to stop it homing on Old Warden.
