Kev is the blade a family related item or just something picked up over the years that held an interest. I mean the old rusty one.
Gives us a break mate. I think every man and his dog can see what Kev or anyone eles on this thread means/meant.
Your not doing yourself any favours mate.

Thanks AM,
The point is I had no real idea what the search terms were so I did try but come to think of it I probably posted on that thread some time ago. Details seem to be coming back to me.
Fighterace,
No intention of digging mate I just saw it and thought interesting. Not my part of the world either.
Mods please feel free to delete this thread if it is duplicating another.
Or no need for anyone to comment further just let it die.

yip pretty much shows what this stuff is like but unless you go find it you would never know.
Some nice finds still come out the ground. I found a brass plate recently and although it is fairly common the condition was amazing.

Oh and if the camo scheme looks a little funny its because I appear to be camo scheme dyslexic and read the paint number the wrong way round and then painted it in reverse so to speak.
Different if nothing else. 🙂
Its been so long since my last update where does time go.
Anyway here is the latest. I have got her paint on and she is nearly ready for decals.
A few problems with the enamels not being mixed enough althought I dont know why because I mix for 3-5 mins from the bottom of the tin too. This resulted in the dark green going on far too thick. Something I wasnt going to correct as it would have been very messy. I have a few bits to finally paint and 2 of the external stores to glue but then she will be ready for decals. She is a practice model too and I have learnt a lot during this build. Anyhow here is how she looks now.

Side view showing attached stores.

Cockpit view. Taken from its best side. Ended up getting rubbish on the inside of the glass somehow. No idea how as I was very careful. I suppose dust gets everywhere.

As this is an aircraft model I am essentially practicing on it will be a few day before I will actually finish it with decals because I am waiting to get my micro sol and set so I can have a go with that. I know its not going to need it because this model is pretty rough but at least I can get a feel for the product before using it in anger so to speak.
Hope you are enjoying this build and maybe even getting a giggle at it.
Thanks for watching.
Hi Mark,
Where does your R number come from? Obviously it still caries the 437 number so it may be different branches used different codes for the same thing.
I only quoted what it gave on the spitfire.ukf website but cross check it with Spitfire the history and that is the info that it also gave was SS 437.
Honestly guys I have no real idea of what it all means hence why I asked the question. It is a little clearer now but just trying to dot the i’s and cross the t’s.
Jeepman still knitting I see. 😉 Whats it going to be when its finished. 😀
Jerry, That is a very good point it could well be.
Thanks for all your input guys. Do you ever get the feeling there is no real answer out there and only guess work.
I would love to find out eventually but you have all given me more than I could have hoped for already.

It is possible I suppose but seeing SS makes me think of Steam Ship which is the usual abbreviation.
It would seem that this is the case but where the numbers come in yet I have no idea.
Hopefully get a name somehow.

Thanks on the history of the Gee Bee. I was only aware that it was no longer flying.
