RE: The meaning of D-Day.
Hi all and thanks for the replies.
I had thought that D had to stand for something but as with all things military it stands for something and nothing.
A330CRAZY: your post of the meaning made the most sense which was that D is merely the code for a day on which an operation would start and that H-hour would be the Hour in which an operation would start so all said and done the Day or Hour could be talked about but noone would know exactly when it would take place hence D-Day.
Everyone elses post also made sense however so I am still a little confused but have accepted the unamed day hence D-Day theory.
Thanks people.

RE: Save a Sea Vixen
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-09-02 AT 08:05 PM (GMT)]***I think the Museum of Flight at East Fortune already have a Sea Vixen***
Actually they dont have a Sea Vixen they do have a few Sea aircraft though. I have listed the jets they have below
Sea Vampire, Hawker Sea Hawk, Sea Venom, Buccaneer, Harrier, Mig 15, F4S Phantom II, Vulcan, Lightning, ME 163 Komet, Meteor (Civil) and DH Comet (air liner)
***but I would love to see this airframe going there***
So would I but can you really see this happening.
***there are 2 externally diplayed aircraft , (Vulcan and Comet ) are in excellent condition***
I would agree that the Vulcan is in resonable condition but on in a discussion with a member of staff a few years back they said the comet was detriorating and that some time soon may be reduced to a cockpit ( I afarid thats what happen with aircraft left outside for a number of years) I think I am right in saying the still dehumidify the Vulcan not sure about the comet but I know they drain the water tanks a lot.
***there are very few guard rails to obscure photographs and there are a few aircraft with steps which gives excellent access to the cockpits.***
And I would agree with you on this point so if anyone feels like a run up to East Lothian ( A place near Edinburgh) for all the people who dont know) then you cant afford to miss the Museum of Flight at East Fortune. BTW did I mention that its on an old WWII RAF base and that it is 90% complete with all the original buildings. See my website for details

and click the airfields links.
also I have emailed them on the case of the Sea Vixen and we will see if they have any interest.

RE: Anyone from Edinburgh?
Hi Keltic
I did get your message and I sent a reply but it got bounced back to me. I have no idea why.
I then sent a message from this website but presume that that address is also faulty seeing as you sent me the second message.
what its best to do is send a message from the website to me but in the text of the message put your email address clearly at the bottom and then check it is right.

RE: Quake funny
Just listening to Radio one this afternoon and they were talking about it with a caller to the show and he told this story.
He was watching the film Casino with Robert De Niro on his big tv and cinema quality gear. When it came to the part in the film when De Niros car blows up the quake started to which the guy said (and I Quote) ” Now thats what I call surround sound “
You have to remember he had been at the pub and had about 5 -6 beer in him at the time.

RE: What Are You Scared Of?
Spiders!!!
Plain and simply spiders.
How many people have actually been bitten by one. I was and really do hate them but as frankvw said they can easy be defeated with something heavy on the head. That is the fate of all spiders in my house.
