This is where there is a problem though: Argentina claims waters completely surrounding the Falklands and South Georgia:

I believe that Britain does not recognise these claims, so Argentinian interference in British shipping would be seen as unfounded.

Out of interest, on what basis are the claims made? Why should the UK recognise them unless they are substantiated?

Exactly. There seems to be a great deal of either confused thinking or, who knows, wishful thinking, about the UK’s inability to prevent another invasion and make sure the Falklands are secure.

Madam President would be acting very foolishly indeed if she really believes in such an adventure. Brown would be politically doomed if he was unable to act to prevent it. And likewise, Cameron, should he be PM at the time.

I will be very interested to hear what you think of him. I don’t rate him much as an actor but perhaps being TC is different. I was lucky enough to see the great man a few times and to meet him as well, so I have especially fond memories of him. In fact as I type this I am smiling just thinking about him. Not many comedians can raise laughter by walking on to a stage and standing quite still, just looking.

I think Harry Hill has been showing clips like these for the last few years, hasn’t he? Some aren’t really funny, some unpleasant because the individual is clearly hurt and some are just like the age-old banana skin joke.

I think some of them care a great deal about giving away one of our overseas territories. And I don’t believe it will happen – certainly not in my lifetime.

Firstly I don’t think anyone thought there were realistic possibilities of drilling and it was certainly not the reason for regaining control of the Islands.

Secondly, yes, that was why I made the point, and was surprised Zimbabwe was omitted from the other post.

The French looked across the Channel a few years ago and realised how much revenue the cameras could generate and so they sprung up all over France. At least they are marked on the road maps.

If there were no fines, just point deductions for every offence cameras would be perceived as deterrents. Anyone who breaks any law takes the risk and they know it. It’s all about attitude and old shape’s experience of the Nazi cop bears out mine, recently. It never used to be like that and in years past police acted like human beings rather than law enforcement automatons.
