Dunno about handshakes, there’s nothing wrong with greeting your closest friends with a damned good hug as far as I’m concerned! 😀
Paul
I said embrace, but I really like your phrase. That’s exactly what it is.:)
It was a tongue-in-cheek remark. 🙂
It was well made, nevertheless. I know we are sticklers for correct English on this forum.;)

No, not semantics, but a legitimate point. I think it is clumsy phrasing, more than anything else. “….using grammar correctly….” perhaps.

We really do have to allow for idiots these days, don’t we? And that was 20 years ago and it’s worse now. “Warning: Food gets hot when heated.”:(

Or, sell the Toyota, get a different car.
Prevention rather than reaction.
Mmm – have a feeling the second hand prices might have softened a tad recently……..;)

Please . . . France left the integrated military command, not NATO.
Yes, of course. And the answer to my question is…?
If people are thick, there is little you can do about it. These are the same people who bray outside courts and which the News of the World, under the guise of serious journalism, hunts down and encourages. That’s just one reason why the support for the so called “Sara’s Law” is so misguided.

If people have objections of an EU based training/transport solution as proposed by Steman, why not just have it as part of the NATO command structure?
There is already a precedent with NATO owned and crewed E-3s and C-17s. Even if just two nations decided to consolidate in htis manner the cost savings for both would be significant.
That was very much my thought. With France soon to rejoin NATO how well does the current command structure work and how well might it, or could it work?
Now that you mention this 10% we are already paying, i was looking at my gas and electric bill and it had 10% for renewable or something. When was this sneaked in. It’s a complete joke they can get away with this. Will i get 10% off my bill when renewables start making money? I doubt it.
Money back from this government – there go those pigs again! The levy was first introduced in 2002, I think, and it has gathered pace since then. Power companies are obliged to subsidise “green energy” by the government and they pass on the levy to the consumer. Although renewable is overtly very expensive by adding this “hidden tax” it adds further to the artificiality of the overall cost.
The current annual value of the subsidy is about £ 1 billion, according to Ofgem.
I can judge the character of a man by the strength of his handshake – if it’s a sweaty, limp, Civil Servant type handshake, I know I’m not going to like them, or have much in common.
Totally agree. At home we used to call it a wet fish handshake.
The social graces are considered totally irrelevant by youngsters today, along with spelling, grammar, arithmetic, elegance, and general knowledge about anything more than five years old…
……by SOME youngsters today…… Happily I know a few who have all the conventional social graces, speak grammatically correctly with a good and varied vocabulary, don’t need a calculator to add 5 and 9 and know a great deal about the history of the world they live in. They are also kind and considerate. So we should’t tar them all with the same brush.
