Fifty years – good grief! One of those iconic inventions, which we now take for granted and without which our lives would be different in so many ways.

Yes, it’s classic and I’m sure it was posted on a thread in GD about peoples’ favourite TV ads.

Lots of disrespect to my colleagues, thinking mustangs have radials, the fools! I nearly phoned up ATC to confirm with them!

I’ll take that as a green light to disrespect your friends – plonkers!;)

If we put our collective minds to it we would probably find that a chasm separates the fiction from the reality of many of our “heroes”. Bader is another that comes immedialtely to mind and Bader’s temperament carried on throughout his employment with Shell. Montgomerie of course and more recently Kennedy – the list to be continued.

But as has already been said the failings should never detract from their achievements and of those who worked alongside them.

This will be the Harvard i spotted at dover the other day, it took of from Manston not long before you saw it, it did a loop over Ramsgate marina and a fly over of the airfield before dissapearing, i think it must have come out of TG aviation. Had a big argument with my collegues who all said it was a mustang, i googled images of the 2 aircraft and they still were adamant it was a mustang, so in the end phoned TG on speaker phone to confirm! infidels!!!

    Informed it was G-TEXN

Thanks for that. No disrespect to your colleagues, but the two aircraft are so different to look at and to hear – the Harvard engine sound is unmistakeable.:)

Unite have just lost another Injunction action by BA and the strikes are off, yet again. They must have pretty useless lawyers. Perhaps enthusiasm for destroying their jobs might wane now……

Originally the RAF grounded the Hawk as well, which was not flying in, but Duxford based. Later they relented and we were treated to an excellent display, with the weather providing a lovely mix of soft grey/white clouds and blue sky.
