Quite right too! – you’ve got to take what you can get these days – it isn’t fair but I don’t blame you. Actually, as I clicked “post” I thought, I know who’s going to reply to this.;)

Not good.:( In disputes between man and woman, I reckon the woman always gets a better deal. At least from the 6 or so couples I have known who have gone through the mill. 50/50 nah!

Brilliant! My copy was a present when it was published but amongst other books “disappeared” in various house moves over the years. A few weeks ago I found an original copy, still in its dustjacket, slightly worn, but the experience of effectively retreaving my original copy, was a joy and I could not wait to “get stuck into it”. His War Diaries are also sitting on the table and they will no doubt be devoured from cover to cover at a couple of sittings.:D
Great shots!:D I know Tebay quite well – where were the pictures taken from?
bazv – complete lack of courtesy if nothing else
That, for me, as well as inconsideration for other road users and ignorance of other road users just about sums up a large percentage of drivers.

Neville Duke was my inspiration too, after devouring Biggles as a youngster. In fact I am re-reading Test Pilot now, after a gap of many, many years.

I think you have made a very good point and I admire your determination to proactivity. But that needs the support and succour of the authorities and our elected representatives. My experience of that has been that they fall short on every count and as far as “travellers” are concerned, they are practically a protected species in Kent, where I have had some experience of them.
I am sceptical that the mood will be any different after the election, when whoever forms a government will have far more important things on their minds.
I suspect that among our myriad existing laws there probably already is a law which would deal with it – if the authorities have the balls to enforce it.
Well, that’s a relief!;) And I can see you are wanted over on another thread where you have great expertise.:)
Whichever way you look at it they still sneak onto lorries in France and enter the UK illegally.:(

Well, I am enjoying, if that’s the right word under the circumstances, the programme. Like any of this type of programme it will have its faults and its detractors but as one who did not live through the blitzing of any of the cities attacked I am getting a flavour of what it must have been like.
The combination of the staged explosions and the wartime footage and recollections of the survivors, some of which has already been seen on a couple of other programmes, nevertheless evokes with real immediacy how appalling the experience must have been.
