I undertand JDK. Having met you I respect that you are highly intellegent in aviation. I think saftely is very important to everyone, but email is so quick now. If you have a concern it is much quicker to email the owner/operator and ask them the question directly. Then you get the correct response without the, sometimes ill informed comments that are bantered around. Then we can concentrate on having a forum that is respected by fans and owners alike, full of useful discussion.
We are not saying ‘don’t see don’t tell’. Just that a few minutes be taken over the implications of what is being said before you press Send.
An email to the operator is as easy to do and they, (as you must know) welcome the chance to explain things. Comments can be very damaging even if corrected promptly.
Anyway lets not get into a teddy throwing competition. I often have to think before clicking send, I haven’t before and said silly things.
That brings back memories. Thank you.
Hi Ozplane… I think I know who you are! I will say hello next time. 🙂
Oh I get lost all the time… I know when I am as a map is brought down sharply on the back of my head, after failing to identify the three landmarks that are not there, as I am over the wrong town.
I will learn. Slowly!!
I wouldn’t say I don’t trust the CAA, many of them do a great job. You just feel you get charged more by them, then say the FAA.
Then again everything is cheaper in the USA.
We don’t have to like the CAA but at least we can fly because of them.
I was going to say much the same thing. Without pointing fingers, we must appreciate that ill informed comments can be taken in as fact by many sources. This is a forum that is not only read by the friends we have met on here but also by the press etc. We know only too well from past experience with the Firefly amongst others that the general press can take comments out of context and this can impact on the owners/operators. I would hate it for some thing untrue be said about Classic Wings and then have to come out and defend them, whilst the press had already got hold of it. Mud sticks.
I have been as guilty of this as any others, so don’t feel I am acting as higher than thou.
Please just think a minute before you type. Thanks 🙂
Great picture of Martyn in the Utt Butt Stearman. Mind if I send it on to him?
Only way to make money in aviation is to join the CAA… 🙂
Feather #3, good to hear from you… hope all goes well with you. Are you down under. I am glad that everyone enjoys there trips so much. It makes you feel it is worthwhile working down there. As classic planes go they do quite a few hours and it is a testiment to the engineers that they manage to keep them in such superb condition.
Glad you both enjoyed it. It was the first aircraft I flew in as well. Look what it did to me 🙂
Sounds like a c0ck and ball story 🙂
Please make it stop!
And so it starts…
Plethora, useful to make a sentence sound so much more important than it is.
